Hi Kathy

Sorry I didn't get back to you ... My surgery was last week and I'm recovering and have been in the post op posts..... It took time to get used to the machine. FOr me it's the headband around my head more then the mask itself. It gives me a headache and if it's not on tight enough the air seeps through and then makes noice.....I'm a mouth breather so I have a full mask... But I did notice that I felt better using it, also it can be soothing.. The air and sound...sometimes I get up around 4 am and take it off. I had to bring it to the hospital and it was on me when I woke up...made my mouth very dry, I had an issue cause it turned out I wanted to keep it on even while awake in hospital cause I felt like it helped with my breathing and my doctor said that was fine. Give it time you will get used to it, and good luck to you. :)

When I first got my bi-pap I had a mask with a headband. I kept it so tight due to air seapage I wound up with a sore on my forehead. I switched to nose pillows with a chin strap and it works great. You might wanr to see what your sleep doctor thinks.

My preop is 2 Protein Shakes a day 1 meal of 4oz meat, 1cup veggies, 1cup of fruit w/out skin, n no more than 2 Snacks ( sf jello/popsicle) a day

No wonder do many people have so much trouble with liquid diet sounds hard. I am sustaining my weight pretty good but ill try the liquid diet and see what happens Thanks

My liquid diet (two weeks long!! starting the 7th) is seriously liquid. broth, sugar free Jello, Tomato Soup, shakes. But thank goodness I can have one Protein Bar pet day, yogurt and oatmeal. But no solids. Wahh!! Lol. They said flavored oatmeal is okay so I'll go with varieties. But still, blah lol ;)

My doctor only requires a one week high Protein low carb diet one week prior and clear liquid the day before. He said it may be different for everyone according to their BMI. My date is 13 Oct.

Hey everyone, I'm counting down the days :), I have 16 days until surgery. Starting my 2 week pre-op diet on Tuesday, September 23rd. My surgeon wants me on a low carb diet. I am choosing to substitute 2 meals with Premier Protein shakes. I'm looking forward to getting myself prepared for surgery!

I'm going to plan my meals tonight to avoid repeating the same meals.

I am excited and nervous I have a surgery date of October 6 I am having the lap band taken out that was placed 4 years ago. I have lost 40 lbs with lap and kept it off. For that I am grateful. The band is not set right and needs to come out, but fear that I will gain is scarey. I definately can lose more weight as my BMI is 40. Start my 2 week diet tomorrow, I think I can do it. Have cut out all soda, sweets and most carbs. I am ready. I am scared, but determined. love this page

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
