Getting tired of drinking liquids. I was on Clear liquids from Oct 4 until October 24th. I am now on full liquids. but can not add skim milk to shakes. tired of the same old food but still doing well. Living on premier shakes, broth, unjury chicken and unflavored sugar free Jello and popsicles. I mix the unflavored in my crystal light. I still have to be on full liquids for another 19 days. Has anyone else had to do liquids for this long? Wasn't sure if it was just my dr. I need some suggestions please. I return back to work October 31

Kpar, so liquids for so long? I made home made chicken Soup and strained it for the broth. It was a change and tasted like real food.

Syntax nectar has fruit flavors you mix with Water. My favorite is Crystal Sky, the cherry was pretty good. I think there is one called Carribean cooler. I am going to get some more flavors today. Hang in there.

Ok friends, been gone for a few days, so I'm super far behind! Whomever is taking care of the Facebook, my email is :michigander22@hotmail.com

Chellede, loved all those pictures!

Kpar, you might ask if you can have some other stuff. Full liquids for me included cream of wheat, creamy Soups, pudding, and oatmeal! I was afraid to eat oatmeal though, and I told the Dietican that. She said I could eat instant mashed potatoes and plain yogurt =) I was very excited about the potatoes, even though they are instant. You might just ask, worst they can do is say no. I also drank about 4oz of 100% juice daily. It made me feel a lot better and less ditzy when I started doing that.

Hey everybody! I had a lot of catching up to do too. Right now I am trying to find my balance. Starting tomorrow I can have oatmeal, cream of wheat and baked sweet potato!! I'm super excited for the change in food because lately it's been hard. I'm trying to keep positive and know that each day will get better but it's difficult when all I knew was food. Living in The New Orleans area all I know is food, good food...it's been a struggle and the struggle is in my head because I don't be hungry. My stomach makes sounds when I drink, lol that just popped in my head so I wrote it lol but anyway tomorrow I'll be two weeks out. Did anyone else have these struggles? I need advice, I need motivation and I need to know that it will get better.

I'm not on Facebook and I love it here so please don't forget about us non face bookers.

Much love

Tamicia

Tomorrow is my 2 week surgaversery. I also have a follow up doctor's appt. and I get to start on pureed foods. I am so excited. I can't believe I'm dreaming about scrambled eggs, refried Beans, and cottage cheese lol. I am getting really sick of Protein Shakes but I guess they are still a part of my life for at least the next month of my life. After that, I can drink milk or a Protein Shake. I will still try to drink them because they are such a good source of Protein. Hope everyone is doing well. I am feeling good.

@@downsizingdebs, maybe talk with your doctor and tell him the situation. That's a unique situation and i'm sure the doctor and work with you on it :)

@@swedy1 - are you on clear or full liquids. If full liquids try liquifying some Soups :) Those are a nice change of pace !!

@@aSleeveStory - Sorry those things are too heavy. I'm with you too.. so over Protein shakes lol

@@Monasongbird_38 - October 2104 friends

@@shmeyers - my surgery buddy !! Can't believe it's been two weeks tomorrow. Let me know how you do with all the new foods. I have to wait until Wednesday night !!

@@lovelytrl - My other surgery twin !! Head hunger and the mental part is something that you're going to need to work through. It's the most difficult. But we are not going to be away from the foods forever. It's just while we heal. We just won't be able to eat a lot of our favorite foods. We will really notice it once we start eating solid foods. Right now everything is just passing through. We are not getting that full feeling. And look, Friday I went out with friend and just had the broth of some gumbo. It was delicious ! Soon you'll be able to having that good Nawlins food !

This is my day today ...

So I just had my 2 week follow up and I"m just happy. I absolutely LOVE my surgeon. So he took a look at my incisions and I told him I was allergic to the glue. Even showed him the pic that you guys saw, he said "Yup, out of all my years of doing this, I've only see 3 people who really are allergic to the glue.. and you are one of them" . He said a lot of people think they are allergic, but I really was. Anyone who knows me, knows I'm special like that LOL

Also I told him about me stalling for 5 days, and he gave me that look.. then said "I don't care about weight loss right now... you tell me why I don't care about weight loss" .. I said, "Because I'm healing?" ... he smiled and nodded. He also said that the reason for these food steps has nothing to do with the diet, but everything to do with healing. He said, go ahead and use salt, use pepper, use your seasonings. You're eating such a small amount compared to before surgery. Enjoy it.

Also said I can start transition into puree on Wednesday, but only at night for the first week. He said on the third week of any meal type, use it as a transition into the next. I thought that was smart !!

He said he wants to see me in 3 months and is looking around a 24 lb loss. To me that seems small, but maybe he just sets it low so people don't stress out.

Hope everyone have a great day. Thanks for reading my rant

As my doctor said .. "The scale is going one way .. down" We all got this !

I was thinking about just starting with dinner. It seems like it would be too big of a shock to my system. My appt. is at 1:50 tomorrow so I figured I would at least wait till I talked with the doctor. I'm glad you had a good day.

@@lovelytrl, can't really offer any words of advice but I can tell you you're not in this alone. I'm having the same thing I a lot head hunger, especially, since in the last week I've been around people eating some of my favorites.

On a good note, I found a recipe on this site that was delish. Cottage cheese in a processor, pureed till creamy, a little cinnamon & splash of vanilla extract w/ one packet of sweeter. So good, doesn't sound good but trust me it was.

I also had corned beef hash in the food processor, looks awful but also tasty.

Hang in there, it will get better. We'll get through it together.

You will feel a lot better once you start having the more substantial foods tomorrow. I felt the same as you did on liquids. Tomorrow I will be 3 weeks out but my doc doesn't want me eating potatoes of any kind nor cream of wheat or oatmeal. Ive been having eggs, tuna, chicken plus my usual liquids.

I had the sleeve Oct 9th. Down 15 lbs since surgery. Hardest part for me right now is the pitty party thinking I can no longer have most foods. I love to cook and love to eat. Now I have to find away around that. But it will happen.

@@Elaine Sunday you will still be able to have your favorite foods. It will be in very very small amounts, but you'll get the flavor. I have a saying when I was dieting ... the first bite "mmmmm this is good" .. the second bite "Mmmm that was good" ... two bite rule ! Please don't let your head think that you will never ever have those foods !

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

Good Luck this procedure is well worth it I am down to 249.6 lb please continue with the process..

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
