Fatigue midday, almost 6 months out

Recommended Posts

I had so much energy for the first four months after surgery, but now I find myself feeling wiped out by 1 or 2 in the afternoon. A short nap usually works to get me back on track, but who has time for that??

I always get 60 to 80 grams of Protein and at least 64 oz of fluids, maybe more. I am taking Multivitamins, Calcium, Vitamin D2, Biotin, and Iron daily as well.

I am wondering if it could be low B12 level? OR.... Not eating enough calories? I get around 1200 a day, within 50 calories up or down.

Thoughts or advice anyone?

I would suspect either a deficiency (B Vitamins are a good suspect) or sleep issues. I think you are likely eating enough calories, but if you eat super low carb, that will make you tired like a wet noodle. I find "carb management" to be a balancing act.

If you haven't had bloodwork in awhile, it is probably worth getting checked.

Funny, i too felt great the first 4 months... by month 5 & 6... i was falling asleep at work... had no idea what the heck was going on.. had all kinds of blood work done etc... it wasnt until a co worker was telling me a story about her & the B12... long story short per my doc it was my B12... i now take 1/2 of what i was & now I take it at night. and now i feel like my old/new self... Check with your doc before you do anything, but just to find out if its your B12, stop taking it for a week... if that helps, then talk to your doc about taking it at night or adjusting the mg you are taking... Just a thought... But i would def talk with your Doc before you do anything - good luck :)

If you have not done it, you probably need to get bloodwork done to check Vitamin levels. I opted to take B12 shots. I usually do it every 2 weeks. But there have been a few times I have gone over the 2 weeks and noticed my energy levels drop.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
