Nausea, vurping, dry heaves?

Recommended Posts

I am about a week or two out from 3 months post surgery. Since about the first week or so of solids (at 5 weeks) I have been having these episodes about 2-3 times per week where I get nauseous about an hour after eating. Sometimes just nausea, sometimes dry heaves, some times "vurping" where I feel it up in my throat. It does not seem to happen with any particular food or anything, and sometimes it occurs in the daytime, though more frequently during the night. I also sometimes get extreme pain up in my chest after eating for about an hour, then it goes away. That has gotten a little better at least, but it is still there and it never happens at the same time as the nausea episodes.

I did see my doctor a few weeks back, and he said it could be gallbladder, could be restriction from my sleeve still. He sent me for an ultrasound which showed I did have gallstones, but he wanted me to take a "wait and see" stance for now and see if things improved. While the chest pain seems better, i am still having the nausea episodes- last night was so miserable :( I am supposed to see my doctor again soon, but I am anxious. Has anyone else ever experienced something similar?

The extreme pain for about an hour after eating dies sound like gallbladder. I used to get attacks for years and never knew what it was. It's painful, I'd get flushed, sometime vomit. Eventually it just goes away and all is good- till it happens again. I'm so glad my gall bladder is out now!!

Sure enough it is gallbladder. I will have surgery next Thursday to remove it, hope I can wait that long...

Thanks! Had my surgery last Thursday, it was easy in that it was a day surgery, but it seemed like it has been a slightly more painful recovery. They did not use my previous scars but instead went through my belly button and closed it with surgical glue. Lol not a pretty site, tons of bruising in the area. But so far no more attacks at lest!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
