I have a question. I had the sleeve March of last year. I only lost 40 lbs to date. Three months after the sleeve I had major surgery. I cannot exercise and I am on a lot of meds still - Lyrica is one. Have I missed the window for the sleeve to be effective? I read somewhere the weight stabilizes around 18 months.

It gets harder after about 7-8 months for many of us... however.... it took me 14 months to get to goal and my losses were really good in the months 11-14. Somewhere around months 8-10 post op my losses slowed way down because i had introduced too many high carb Protein bars etc. When I changed things up, I went back to steady losses.

I was stable at goal for about 6 months before i decided to lose a few more vanity pounds. I have lost about 18# between Feb 2013 (when I hit goal) and this spring. So, my personal belief is that if you keep "working it" and following the rules you can keep losing. Good luck!

If I wanted to lose 10# more right now - I am sure I could do it. I am content where I am at, I am just saying that the sleeve doesn't stop working, I think we just stop working the sleeve...

You haven't missed your window. Your sleeve is just a tool, and does not have an "on/off" switch. It does get tougher to lose weight at 1 year, simply because your body gets adjusted to the lower calorie intake, you sleeve is healed and it can hold more food, and you're carrying less weight (so you're not burning as many calories when you exercise).

I'm at 18 months post-op, the weight loss has slowed considerably because I'm eating more and I'm not carrying an extra 160lbs. But I'm still inching my way down.

I am in the same boat

Knee replacement only 20 lbs in 18 months

I was told to move more

Meanwhile I keep thinking I did the surgery for nothing

Just stopping soda I could have lots 20 lbs

Thanks for the feedback. Odyco, I feel your pain. My apologies for the delayed response but I'm still having some health challenges. Still not able to work out and lately, have not been 100% doing the work... So stressed and frustrated! Gotta pick up the pieces of my life and get back on track.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
