Frustrated!

Recommended Posts

I was banded in Mexico by Dr. Zapata in fall of 2010. It was a great experience there and I would recommend him to anyone. I got off to a good start with minimal problems and lost 75 lbs. over about a year time. I was disappointed when the weight loss began to slowly decline and then stopped all together. I was more active than ever, eating habits didn't change, nothing different....just didn't lose weight. Waited 6 months or so and had another fill, still no change. Then after about a year my weight began to climb again and now I'm back up 30 lbs!

My regular Dr. can find nothing out of the ordinary after several exams and many blood tests. I'm exhausted all the time and personally think that I'm beginning to have some blood sugar issues when I don't eat properly or exercise...get weak and shaky.

I'm disgusted, confused, depressed over all of this especially since I paid out of pocket for my surgery, no insurance since I had no existing health issues!

I don't feel I need another fill since I feel restriction and have to eat VERY slowly and get full quickly. I eat high Protein, low/no carbs. I don't know what to do....so upset about this!

Thanks for letting me vent!!! :)

Irene

Do you track calories and how many a day?

Do you exercise?

Are you satiated for up to 4 hours after a meal?

I agree that after years our body seems to adjust to a new set point. I am faithful to good food, high protein and working out. Not perfect but really good 90+% of the time. Yet my body wants to stay within a 5 lb range. I don't gain so I'm good with it. Just seems like eating close to 1000 calories or under would stimulate more weight loss...... but sadly not the case I do love staying a smaller size for years tho!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
