How Long Did You wait After Band Removal Before Revising?

Hello, I am two weeks post band removal and wish I had done this in one procedure. My surgeon said that he could do it in one procedure but it would be a double risk. I wanted to be as safe as possible, so I'm doing this in two. For those of you that had or will have a two-part procedure, How long did you wait between surgeries. I am so ready to do it now. My incisions are doing okay, only one is still a little sore but my stomach looks swollen and puffy. Also, was anyone else's puffy? and for how long. Just curious to know. THANKS!

When I had the band removed, Dr. said he saw nothing that would keep me from having RNY. It's been 6 weeks and I feel that I'm ready now so maybe I shouldn't wait too long but right now I would like to have it done a week before thanks giving b/c it would give me enough vacation time from work before going back and to start healing

I did have a rare case but want others to know that it may not be easy. I have lost 8 pounds post op which is 11 days. That does not include 6 days of iv saline weight.

Melissa, did you have a lot of scar tissue? How has things been for you since? Sorry to hear that.

They took my band out as part of an emergency procedure. I had a very bad abdominal infection that probably started at my port site. I was on iv antibiotics for weeks after my hospital stay which included gallbladder removal, abscess removal, band removal, and blood transfusion.

My Dr. said I had scar tissue from the band even before removal. It didn't matter if I waited 6 months or a year the scar tissue was already there.

I will say for my recovery from RNY was much easier than the band. I'm losing about 2 lbs a week. I'm 5 1/2 weeks out and down 24 lbs. Not crazy fast, but I'm ok with slow and steady.

I am now 3 months out from revision and I am down 48 only 20 more to go! Rny is soooo much easier for me than the band was. Love it!!!!! I've had no complications and I feel great!
