Does anyone else feel like you're obsessing about everything pertaining to your upcoming surgery? I'm pre-op RNY, hoping to have my surgery late August or early September. I've already ordered me a food scale, my post-op Vitamins, a cookbook, etc. I've immersed myself in the online forums, reading everything about pre-op, post-op, problems, successes, etc. Anyone else obsessed like I am?

I did the same thing. Right now I'm on the pre op diet. But I have had my ducks in a row for awhile.

Yep, and I haven't even had my first official appt yet. I've only had the seminar. But, I've done a lot of research, I know exactly what my insurance requires, and I'm trying to make some changes NOW. I hope that being well informed will help speed things up.

Being informed and prepared will all pay off in the long run..... Because it's more than just the surgery that leads to successful long term weight loss. I actually even joined (and went to) a gym three months before my surgery. It helped make for a very speedy recovery. Best wishes to all of you pre-op people!

I agree. My RNY was July 25, 2013, so I am a bit over a year post op. The more you learn and plan before surgery the more success you will have following surgery. My best tip is to begin using MyFitnessPal.com now. It will be a vital tool for tracking Protein after, and I believe that it will be the key to my long term success. I have lost 205 pounds, have reached my goal weight, and, for the first time in my life I have a normal BMI. LIFE IS GREAT!! Learn all you can and focus on you. This is a journey worth taking!

Jomamacita I am doing the same thing buying all that I need for after surgery. I think about having this surgery 24/7

I'm on the pre-op surgery diet and having a hard time stretching out my meal for 30 mins. I'm having a hard eating slow.

I'm freaking thinking I'm a failure already.

Yep, I'm post op and I obsessed about my procedure as well. Learn all you can and just keep in mind that each person is different. The only thing is I would caution about buying too much pre-op because you may find post-op your new tummy may not agree with certain things and you don't want to waste money if you don't have to. Happy researching and reading!

My surgery is Monday....

I researched and researched all I could about Gastric Bypass. I wanted to go into this fully informed. Knowledge is power.

I feel a little bit better knowing what situations might happen and what I can do to help myself if they do.

Good luck everyone.

Thank you Jomamacita. I am using a sippy cup and it works great. I also put my shakes in the sippy cup I just made the holes a little bigger for the shake to go through.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
