Is it just me? I still have to take lortab every 4 hours for the really bad pulling/pain around one particular incision on the right side of my belly. Because lortab makes me tired, I'm sleeping a lot and can really only get around enough to get my meals and shower each day. I really thought I'd be further along in my movement by now. What gives?

I had my surgery June 10. I had bad pulling and stinging on my left side around two incisions. When I laid down was the worst. I could not get any sleep because I could not turn or move without the pulling and hurting. I was constantly holding my side when I sneezed or coughed or tried to pull myself up out of bed. I ran out of my pain medicine and they would not give me anymore. So about a week I could not sleep at all and dreaded to even to lay down. Then this past weekend.....all of a sudden I didn't hurt anymore. It seemed to quit over night........it will get better.

I had burning around my largest incision, moving around helped ease the pain. It will get better in time, it's a part of the healing process

Hi there, I am 2 weeks post op RNY and also have burning pain on my left side. So much that I am as well having to take pain meds and only have been able to get up for showers and short walks. It's awful. I as well thought I would be so much further by now!! Best of luck to all of you and if anyone has suggestions let me know. I have read many people experience this pain and then wake up one day and it's gone! I'm waiting for that day.

Five days post op and i feel the same pain, is this just healing?? Its so painful no sleep, having to hold my bottom stomach up so it wont tug as much, i feel like i may have injured myself or is this normal? Is there an easier way out of bed then, its so painful now.

My doctor says it's normal and just healing, I am now 3 weeks post op and still having pain but it is slightly better. You can check with your doctor as some will allow an abdominal binder and that can help a little. I have not been able to sleep in bed and have been in a recliner since surgery. I still have to hold my stomach on left side just to move around and do some normal things. It hurts so much and I have been in tears a few days. I do see a little improvement so there is hope but try to rest and be careful not to over do it! Hope you feel better soon, it's hard but hopefully it will end quickly.

Yes, thank you for reminding about a heating pad. It has helped ease the pain for me but hasn't taken it away but that will hopefully help others too! Thank you :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
