Surgery tomorrow! Terrified!

Recommended Posts

Day 3 now and gas pains have pretty much gone which I literally couldn't be happier about as I was in AGONY the last couple of days. The odd twinge in my shoulder but thats about it really! I did weigh myself today and I've stayed exactly the same... I don't know what I thought I was going to see it's not like i'm going to have lost a stone by day 3 but I thought id see at least something as I have barely any appetite and have just been sipping on smoothies and squash but hey ho! My doc says I can try mushies on day 3 so i'm going to attempt some mash potato and gravy tonight as i'm dying for something savoury!

how is everyone getting on?! x

Wow!! Mashed potatoes! I have been dreaming of food all night. Isn't that crazy? My MD here wants 7-10 days post op of Clear Liquids. I am sick of Gatorade and Powerade. chicken broth seems so salty. True hunger has set in. Next week I can go to cream based Soups and the week after that I can have mushy food. So it will be about a month before I can have fork and knife food. As far as weight, I gained some initially (maybe Fluid retention?) but now I am back down to where I was prior to surgery. Wishing you continued good luck. Let me know how it goes with the food intake this week!

I had my surgery 4/3/14 and didn't have any pain at all. Came home the same day with no problems whatsoever. I did take the next day off work but that was more to recover from anesthesia than anything else. It's been the best decision of my life. I'm down 47 pounds and I feel wonderful. It's natural to be nervous but you'll do fine!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
