Need AUGUST bypass buddies!

Recommended Posts

My pre-op went ok and doing the liquid diet - not as bad as I thought it would be. Surgery is set for the 13th. My last day at work was yesterday - spent the whole day with my mom and went shopping. This weekend is for my husband and daughter. I am stressed and scared but I am more worried about my husband - you can see the worry and stress in his face. He is my anchor that keeps me calm. He knows that this time it is higher risk than the first attempt but we both know it is necessary. Reading these threads keep me encouraged - thank you all.

In the end everyone will be happy! My husband is also worried, but I tell him this will benefit not only me, but the family too! I will be able to walk without panting, lower blood pressure and most of all live longer and healthy!!We are surgery twins! Mine is on the 13th of August as well! I realize I just responded to a old post a few minutes ago so I apologize! Lets keep in touch!! My name is Gabriela by the way! Nice to meet you! :)

It is normal to be scared. Just have faith in God that he will guide the hands of the surgical staff and you will be fine.

Had my surgery RNY last Wednesday. So glad it's over. I feel ok, just sore. I was very gassy but that's working itself out. Goodluck to everyone who has upcoming surgery. You will do great!

My surgery is on the 19th. My worry is I gained weight on vacation. I am back down to my last weigh in weight...my appointment for labs is on Tuesday and I know they will weigh me....I am sticking to the pre-op diet and exercising....keeping my fingers crossed they won't postpone my surgery....vacation two weeks before having to start pre-op diet was bad timing.

Did you have to lose a certain amount of weight before surgery and do you already have insurance approval?

[/quotei had to meet 3 times with my dietician, I was suppose to lose 5 pounds before I even started the pro-op. I only lost 2.5. Think I would feel better if I hadn't gained so much on vacation. Thank God my insurance company has been really good with no giving me any problems. My first appointment was in May and surgery is this month. Pretty quick.

Maybe you'll be fine. Just keep your head up. I lost 11 pounds a week before surgery doing Protein Shakes for Breakfast and lunch and then a small meal for dinner.

It is good to know I am not alone. We will all do great - I trust in The Lord and my surgeon. I see care and compassion in his eyes. He cares for his patients which means so much to me. I did not see that in the eyes of the liver specialist but at least he signed off on my surgery. I guess he sees so many bad livers and does so many transplants and it's not part of his personality. He looks and talks like Penn of Penn and Teller. Nothing is worse than hearing your doctor talk outside the examination room and he is loud enough for God and everyone can hear. I know he a top liver specialists and I will tolerate visits. I know this surgery will not fix my bad liver but I hope it helps it from getting worse.

I am glad I joined this - it truly helps.

There are a lot of things that we shouldn't have after surgery; however, there are a lot of things that we can still have just in strict moderation.

Mt dew is probably one of those things we shouldn't have because of the carbonation. So, drink up and enjoy.

Good luck with everything.

Having my last Diet Mt. Dew for life today :)

The first few days of the pre-op diet were really hard for me. I thought I would not be able to do it, but here I am with the first week over and I can't believe I am doing well. I don't miss my diet cokes or my carbs. I cannot screw this up. God I miss chocolate already .....

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
