Week 6: May 27-31st Sleevers

We are beginning week 6! We count surgery week as week 1 so everyone should be completing their 5th week of their brand new tummy!

I've been traveling a lot the last few weeks and it is a HUGE eye opener to how little I can eat now. I survived a buffet by having a few bites of some different things, and paid for far too much money for meals that I couldn't take home leftovers and it looks like I didn't eat a thing off the plate. I think one of the hard things for me is that a plate of food comes and it looks so good and I want to devour it! I get slightly depressed I'll only get to enjoy a few bites. Yet after about 1/4 cup I'm stuffed and full and push the plate away and don't want another bite, which is AWESOME!! I'm assuming the odd depression right when the plate comes out will pass. At least when I'm at home I can box the left overs right away and then it might not seem so bad. I never thought much about the money being saved on food, but holy cow its gotta be a ton.

So I'm curious... how many are sticking to super low carb, vs those who are just watching calories/letting restriction do its job.

How many are working out a ton and how many are waiting?

Whats your favorite meal at this point?

And I'd like to continue habsi's question; what pills/multivitamins is everyone taking daily?

devint I loved your idea for putting up averages etc!! I've added mine and included those who weighed in last week. Hopefully we can get everyone to weigh in Monday or Tuesday next week and see our numbers skyrocket!

It's Monday morning and didn't I forget to weigh in this morning? Holiday weekend throwing me off. :)

And in more ways than one. I skipped logging food and steps Friday to Sunday this weekend and I also found myself pretty dehydrated this morning so I'm focusing on getting lots of Water in and I am experiencing a stronger "water nausea" feeling. I've found that keeping the water room temp helps with that, and flavor squirters.

Over the weekend we went to North Carolina and I really pushed my capacity with pulled pork bbq binge, like half a cup of it every 3 hours i was there (hey at least it was soft and protein). It didn't stop me that, from what my dr said, our suture lines inside are still healing and creating scar tissue to cover the staples. I have to remember that it's not everything back to normal yet and to take it easy on my body a little longer.

I'm starting to get really self conscious about my changing body, noticing the skin getting loose on upper thighs and arms, and the parts of my body I didn't want to go away (chest and bottom) are the first ones my body decides to pull from o.0 But it's all for the good of the whole health wise.

hair loss is something I'm scared of too and read an article that recommended…. spraying apple cider vinegar on your hair and then letting it there for a half hour and then rinsing with cold water?? Don't know if anyone else has heard of this but apparently it's a mega conditioner and helps prevent hair loss under stress/hormone changes. It also said you can take a tsp diluted in a cup of water before meals and it will work similar to metformin to reduce insulin spikes after eating. I haven't decided if I'm going to try it yet but if anyone has experience or seen that validated I'm interested in hearing about it.

Good morning everyone! I just got done weighing and I'm thrilled. My weight kept fluctuating on the scale up and down over a pound while I was standing on it like it was possessed. I finally realized my hair bun must be leaning on the wall or something, so I scooted it out from the wall a foot and not only did it stop the fluctuating nonsense it showed 3 pounds lighter!!! I stepped on it 3 more times to make sure. Lol

Two chewable Bariactric Vitamins daily.

Two calcium chewables.

I have really thick hair not noticed anything different there. Hear it's around 3-4 months out.

See a lot of you are taking Biotin and other vitamins too...

Edited by Monte0828

Question to those taking biotin - are you taking the tablets? Of so - are you crushing them to taking them whole?

Surgery May 27. Lost 22lbs since surgery and 38 since the 2 week preop diet!

I was at 261.6 last Monday with. SW of 280. That was right before I passed out and broke both bones in my ankle. My RIGHT ankle. My gas pedal driving ankle. So that being. Said - not sure when I'm going to be able to get on a scale again to get a true weight since I have this ankle splinted, partially casted and wrapped to the hilt until further notice. Not to mention I would have to be able to stand ON the scale and balance. I can't see that happening for the next several weeks. I do have my follow up with my Bariatric surgeon on Wednesday so will see what he says. I found that I get nauseous if I am laying down/reclined when I eat and drink so it's been fun to keep my foot elevated while in bed while sitting up while fighting nausea. You get the picture. And the lortab for pain makes me nauseous as well so no pain meds for me for the ankle. So ask you can see - I'm on an adventure. Stay tuned cuz Friday I meet with my Orthopaedic surgeon to see what he has in store for me and for how long. Could be interesting since the first two weekends in August I am traveling. Cross your fingers for me. I hope you all enjoyed your holiday weekend.

I hope u feel better!

Any one having problems walking normal after weight loss ?had my vsg may 30

@@boccob81 I read somewhere on the forums that posture problems and weird muscle deficiencies that cause you to walk funny happen as the weight is rapidly lost. Basically your back and shoulder muscles are overcompensating for a stomach weight that's not there anymore, plus your abdominal muscles aren't fully healed from surgery yet. Best advice I found is to simple walk tall, sit straight up. If you're having trouble with your leg muscles though I'd be worried you're not getting enough Protein and your body is eating your muscles as fuel instead of fat.

NSVs: I had to wrap string around my wedding rings today to tighten them up because they fell off my hands while washing in the bathroom. I also researched how to alter button up shirts so I don't have to buy all new for work just yet, just have a lot of sewing to do. I also went outside wearing a sleeveless shirt, to the grocery store, without an overwhelming sense of shame and self-consciousness. My upper arms still aren't nice to look at, but I just felt better about myself so I did it.

Oh my gosh! I just found out that the nagging pain i've been having behind/underneath my right shoulder blade is not from me "sleeping funny" or just general pain from vsg; i am having gallstone symptoms! Luckily the pain is not severe (yet) just dull moderate aching, but it has been keeping me up at night for the last three nights. I am praying that my doc tomorrow can give me some meds to help cause I do NOT want another surgery. :( discouraged.
