Sleeved yesterday, doing well so far. A basketball of gas in my stomach, I think, but this morning's walk was much more successful that last night's. Haven't had my leak test so still no liquids, just lots of resting. Pleasantly surprised at the lack of pain - hope it stays that way!

Start my liver reduction diet tomorrow. I thought for sure that today would be one massive eating orgy so that having just shakes would be a welcomed cure for a food hangover tomorrow. But as luck would have it- I have no desire to eat today-WTF?!

This am tried to organize the meds. Wow a lot. Have to do blood thinner shots for two weeks shots in my tummy. 3 pills for pain, nausea, and spasms. Also, have a ear patch on. Have a pill for acid, pill for gallstones, pill for depression blood pressure , thyroid, and allergy.

Have a pill case to put them in. All but my Vitamins. Flintstone complete B12, and calcium citrate.< /p>

My goodness that is a lot of meds tanglesia! I only had an Rx for acid and a liquid narcotic pain medicine. Were the rest of yours as a result of the surgery, or some already you were taking? I hope that's not too personal a question, I just was shocked when I saw how much you have to take.

Do others who have been sleeved also have to take this much medicine post op?

I haven't been sleeved yet, but my dietitian has already told me I will be on lots of supplements after surgery. I will also have an acid reducer for 6 months, pain meds, stool softener, and my current bp med too. I'm planning to get a big pill box before surgery.

Got the best news today! I'm OFFICIALLY official! Said I've lost enough pre-op weight to satisfy their requirements and my surgery is confirmed for 10:30 Tuesday Aug 12th. So super happy! As far as meds, I will be on a special bariatric Multivitamin, Vitamin D, B12, an acid reducer for 3 months, and a gallstone preventer for 6 months. Come on Tuesday! I'm ready to do this :-)

I'm having mine on August 15th. I'm not required to do a pre op but I feel I need to. Will you help me get ready for surgery? I will follow a liquid diet for 7 days with you

Hi everyone

I'm sleeved and doing really well. Had it done by dr eibes Iowa specialty hospital in Belmond, ia. Amazing experience. Such a beautiful facility it is only a 19 bed hospital. And every nurse and aid is a part of your care they wanted to make sure brad and I were takin care of.

Surgery was at 9 we went down at 7 they ran blood work, set up Iv fluids and antibiotic. Dr eibes came in and chatted, the dr who put me to sleep and controls the boughie can in. And the or nurse came in. I walked in and layer down they put warm blankets on my and strapped my arms down and put a mask over my mouth and that was it. Woke in the recovery room kicking my blankets off. I hope I wasn't to embarrassing. To me to my room by 10:45. Pretty sleepy but was up walking by 12. And I continued to walk. The told me 20 laps was a mile so I ended up doing 4 miles.

Tuesday morning was the a leak test had to drink the nastiest stuff. Could have gagged. But just made myself do it. It was ok so back it the room for a cup of broth, Isopure, lemon aide, and Jello. I got 70% down. Dr came in and said your doing fabulous you can go home if you want so we did. Took us 4 hrs. But was worth it.

That's a great pill list. You are VERY organized.

Please, come organize my post-op pills. :)

This was my first day post-op! Got home from hospital about 2hrs ago. Gas pains, be prepared. Walk walk walk. No pains from incision sites. But I did get a doozy of a headache. Now still all seems so surreal.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
