Hi my name is Jaccie and I had my surgery on April 4, 2014. I am 61 lbs down with a whole lot more still to lose. I am a stay at home mother with a teen and a toddler. I was self pay and before my surgery my doctor and staff were great, then after the money exchanged hands I never hear from them besides my first couple of follow up appointments. They move patients like cattle in there. You are in and out with-in 15 to 20 min. I have ZERO guidance and am flying blind here. The paperwork they sent me home with was for the lap-band since they just started doing sleeve surgery 6 months ago. I haven't been on this forum for sometime now and have been trying to do this on my own. I am doing great diet wise but how many calories am I supposed to be consuming a day? I realize it is different from surgeon to surgeon. Any advice would be helpful.

Wow you've done great so far with little guidance

My written plan from surgeon has all three on it and slight variations for each so you should be able to follow it

I also was given a copy of weight loss for dummies by a friend this weekend and it seems like a good book am on chapter 4

I also read this site for days

Initially, my center said 600-800 calories a day. 60+ grams of Protein, under 60 grams of carbs, 8 glasses of Water. Now that I am nearly 7 months out, they have told me 900 calories a day.

I agree with what the ladies above wrote. Let me also say that you can probably find a lot of information on the internet and youtube videos. I will be in the same boat you're in because I'm having my surgery done in Mexico. I will have folllow up check ups done by a general practitioner rather than a bariatric Dr. Send good vibes. I hope my diabetes goes away.

I had a stall week 3 to week 5 so I upped my calories from 600 to 800 and then I started dropping weight again. I am still finding 800 calories difficult to get in every day. I appreciate the advice I will definitely turn to this forum on a daily basis and look up some blogs and youtube videos.

You can do this...you can rock this!

Like another poster said, there is a lot of information on the internet. Get a pad of paper and do some serious research. If you're a stay at home Mom, maybe you can find others in your area, and have a walk/run group? Each Mom would take turns watching the kiddies while the others go out and bond and run/walk,

Take the bull by the horns, get creative, and above all, get healthy.

Bless you for doing this solo. The main reason I decided on my surgery is that my clinic follows you for at least three years, and they are there for you for life if you need extra help. I'd be too scared to do it otherwise.

*hugs*

You seriously rock. B)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
