I'm so frustrated right now and just need to vent. I started this journey at the beginning of the year with hopes that I could have my surgery this summer. I got the last of my clearances done on May 28th. My Bariatric Advocate said she would submit the paperwork to insurance the next day.

Well, I called Anthem 12 days later (June 9)to see if the insurance had made a decision yet. They said they were still waiting on a final form from the surgeon's office. So, I called the surgeon's office and she said they were waiting on a form from insurance, but she was "just getting ready to call them" and would submit it that day.

She said if they approved in the next 3 weeks, we would be looking at a mid-August surgery date.

So, I decided to call insurance again today to see what progress had been made. They said there had been no new info submitted and it is not into the review stage yet. What?!

I called the surgeon's office at 8:00 this morning to find out what is going on--had to leave a message. And I still haven't heard back.

My main problem is that I'm a manager for a major retailer. My surgeon wants me off 4-6 weeks. Our Christmas season starts in October. So, if I can't have surgery by the end of August, I won't be able to do it this year. And all of my clearances will expire and I'll have to start completely over.

I just want to cry.

I cannot even begin to imagine the frustration you're feeling. Hoping the surgeon's office gets it together asap!!

Oh - that's frustrating. Any other good surgeons in your area? End of august seems like plenty of time to get things worked out (pending surgery date availability). Looks like you need to babysit the surgeon's office for sure to make it all happen. I wish you the best in making it work!

your situation sucks - thats the only/best way to put it

if the office close to you??

i would march myself over and talk to the "dude or dudette"

don't be mean or angry - (in other words don't punch her  )

sometimes it is better to see each other person to person

not phone to phone!!!

otherwise you/we all look the same - a thin 8 1/2 sheet of paper

hope this gets figured out sooner than later!!!!

good luck

kathy

So.....After my little rant yesterday, I get a call from my Bariatric Advocate who proceeds to tell me that I'm approved!

I'm shocked and excited. I don't even care whose fault the mix-ups were now. She said hospital billing will call me next week to see what I need to pay upfront, then I will get my surgery date. Yay!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
