Revision surgery scheduled for August 1st

Recommended Posts

Lots of views but no replies from my last post, hoping for something in this one :)

Insurance has approved (after a small argument) my revision from my broken band to the RNY. Going through the steps all over again with all of the tests, hoping to get them all done ASAP.

Looking for some advice and support. I'm a mom of 4 (my youngest is 8 months) and Im hoping the recovery isn't too bad, especially since I've got little ones counting on me!

Thanks!

-Heather

I'm scheduled for the end of July for band removal. I think I may as well go for the entire RNY and get it over with. I'm just afraid that I will lose too much and that will be all I need to hear my husband( whom really don't want me to have it) say " I TOLD YOU NOT TO DO IT". That worries me a lot (What others will say) but I'm the one dealing with HBP and blood sugars that are totally out of control now. I was banded b/c I thought it would help but I was never rid of them. I'm glad you were finally approved. lets keep in touch

I'd love to keep in touch! I'll send you a message here shortly. My surgeon assured me that your body will not let you "lose too much weight". My husband just gets really upset when he sees me getting sick, and he's afraid it will be like that all the time after RNY, but I told him that its nothing like that, and as long as I continue to do what I did with my band I'll be ok. The part that's hard for me is the people who aren't really for me getting the revision are the ones who love to eat (which is how I am/was), I keep telling them its not that I cant enjoy a bit of cake or party foods but I need to do it in moderation.

I just keep telling myself that I don't want to be 300lbs again, I cant do that to myself, my children or my husband :)

Good luck on your surgery and yes, please keep in touch!

Thanks Heather, I'm waiting to hear back from my Dr's office as I type. I'm afraid to do it b/c I'm a light weight for RNY ( in my opinion anyway). I'm 5' 2" tall and weigh 213 lbs. My diabetes and HBP is telling me to stop worrying about getting too thin and focus on my health. It's time that I listen. I have a bad family history that goes along with my same issues. Yes, OK, let's keep in touch

Hey, I've developed something weird going on with my throat. I had to call the office back and now I'm having band removal in 5 days. I'm trying hard not to think about it

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
