I didn't have a pre-op either -- was told to eat "light" on Saturday (went out and had steak, shrimp and a massive baked potato) and then Clear liquids the day before. I feel sorry for all the people on the site who have to do long pre-ops. If we were that good at staying on a diet, we wouldn't need surgery.

My doc just says clear liquids for 3 days prior to the surgery. I find it funny how different every doctor's plan of care is.

Mine will be 2weeks Protein shakes. Its just to get my liver down. I figure its a test to see if I will be able to handle my new life change.

Same here...I start my 2 week liquid diet on 7/3. I feel okay about it. Makes sense to prepare your head for it a little bit better for the long haul.

Good luck to everyone!

Yuppp & mean I'm going to make the changes now either way. Instead of 2 days prior I'll make it 1 week ..

I'm on clear liquids today. I have to do the dreaded bowel prep after I see the surgeon this afternoon. Not looking forward to being on the toilet all night. Surgery is tomorrow!!!

No pre op liquid diet here either. Just a light Breakfast the day prior then clear liquids from noon on ...ave surgery at 8am so it will be fairly easy to handle considering some others pre op diets. I would never make it!

2 week liver shrinkage diet starts July 4th for us. uh, ya. Not going to happen. I'm sure he won't be able to tell if we did it for 13 days instead of 14. :P So Protein shake for breakfast and another for lunch and lots of water/flavored Water in between and a meal according to what they allow from the list for dinner. Repeat. 11 days then 2 days of liquids only. :P I am thankful we are allowed that one meal. Some aren't! (in our paperwork it is written in all caps BOLD to do EXACTLY as written or surgery could be CANCELLED. Well, we are still starting on the 5th so shhhhhhh!!!!

But I also wish these Dr's would get on the same page and have us all do the same pre-op diet, or not.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
