Don't stock up on too much of anything, except Vitamins. I bought a lot of Vitamin B (sublingual), Vitamin D (I tend to be deficient), and Biotin whenever CVS had buy 1/get 1 free sales. Your tastes will change drastically following surgery and you don't know what foods you will like or tolerate. For the first week or two I had greek yogurt, cream Soups, sugar free pudding, sugar free Popsicles, sugar free Jello, broths, and samples of flavored and unflavored Protein to mix into them. I'd get two meals out of a yogurt and three or four out of a can of Soup. I bought Atkins ready to drink shakes because I had always liked them and it was a quick easy meal in the early days. After I was cleared to drive I was able to go shopping and began looking for and trying different things w/protein that I could tolerate. I found most foods didn't taste 'right' especially in the first month after my surgery. I threw out a lot of food in those early days. Eventually that effect faded away but even one year out I still don't eat enough of any one thing to make 'stocking up' worthwhile except my favorite protein. It took a lot of trial and error to finally find one I liked (I threw out a lot of protein too!). :-)

I agree about not stocking up too much. You'll get 2-3 meals out of a can of refried Beans when you get to that stage. The only thing I bought in bigger packages was fat free plain Greek yogurt but that wasn't until the 2nd week. I also bought a couple of Protein powder sample packs (Syntrax and Unjury) and given the small amounts we can have, they are lasting forever (I'm two weeks out).

I also bought a couple of cartons of chicken broth but haven't really used much of it at all. I'll add some to the Beans to think them out for puree-ing, but I probably only had a cup or two warmed up that first week. I'll have to use that up when I get to the soft food stage.

I went through broth like it was my best friend. I sipped that all day long for liquid and it was so soothing to my insides. sugar free popsicles and crystal light are must haves as Water (plain) will be hard to get down by itself. The second week I added "cream of soups" to the broth and it felt like a treat. I would buy samples of different Proteins to try now. Experiment now-see other threads here on Proteins to try. I mix mine with vanilla flavoried unsweetend almond milk. Some people use skim milk, soy milk or Water. My tastes did not change at all. I will say I now crave fish and previously I hated fish. Weird! Other than that I have stayed the same. Different proteins taste different and you will like some and hate some. It is a very personal thing. Buy sample packets. Hope this helps!

      I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

      Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

      Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
