Fear I'm not losing any weight. I am one month out, I've lost 13 lbs :-( I'm stuck on this weight for 3 weeks

Hi Faye - do not fear - it happens to many of us. I've been stuck at the same weight for 3 weeks also. It's because we're eating so few calories - our bodies have gone into "starvation mode" because it thinks we're having a famine in the land :) I have decided to stop weighing myself for the next 2 weeks, to write down all my non-weight related benefits as I notice them (e.g. my diabetes is nearly resolved) and to up my exercise to 40 minutes a day walking or swimming. I know it's very depressing but don't give up. Just keep eating mostly Protein, fruit and veggies - maybe go for a walk when you're down, and know that this won't last forever :)

Me too. I lost 5 kilos in the first week, then nothing for 5 weeks. I was told by another bariatric pal member to make sure I was eating enough. So, very nervously I increased the volume and lost another kilo the next dat, then nothing, then half a kilo. So it appears to be a balancing act. I kept feeling that maybe my procedure didn't work, as I wasn't losing much, I always feel hungry and I apart from vomiting I haven't really suffered....... Good luck got the future x

I'm 2 weeks out and stuck at being down 12 lbs. I haven't lost anything in three days. My plan is to increase my Protein and try not to panic until my period is over (started today, ugh).

Personally I've found that weighing myself every day is the road to disaster :) I don't lose, then I get upset so I don't follow the program properly.... I'm much more content when I weigh myself only once a week or less. Now when I'm not losing, I'm staying away from the scale for 2 weeks - it's too depressing - I know logically that my body has temporarily gone into starvation mode but watching the scale stay at the same number for 3 weeks is not motivating. Instead I'm concentrating on all my non-weight successes.

Sorry to all of you who are going through this, but thankful that I am not alone here. Surgery 5/28 and haven't lost anything for about 10 days. This is miserable!! :(

I have gone through the same thing where I won't lose for a week or so but then I'll lose 3-5 lbs in a week. it's all about balance and making sure you get your Protein, Water and walk in everyday. I'm 16 weeks out from surgery and have lost 48 lbs. I'm happy with that and I know I will keep losing. What also worked for me was figuring out my average per week. so as of now I'm losing 3.5 lbs a week which I think is pretty good.

There are so many people that have success with bariatric surgery, that when you struggle you feel that you are doing something wrong. I have stuck to sample menus from the specialist teams in the hospital, increased my intake, as recommended by other members, but not much happening at all. And I go straight back to feeling that it's all my fault...... I must be doing something wrong.... :( I am very active, drink loads of Water, eat Protein and don't cheat!!!!! So why am I just 6.5 kilos (just over 14 pounds) down in six weeks????? (eleven pounds was in the first week), so strange.... Anyone out there been through the same thing, and then turned a corner????? HELP......

I started losing again. I'm down two more pounds. So, that is 14 lbs in 15 days. I started having an extra Protein drink. I'm not sure if that is what has made the difference...

Thanks for this post. I am stalled at 3 weeks and my surgeon said not to worry but I am. It's comforting to know that this is a problem shared by others.

I feel the same luv. I worry, why am I stalled? What am I doing wrong? What could I do better? Why me? Is my procedure not working? Did the surgeon do the procedure correctly? What do I need to do? Will I 'turn a corner'? Will I ever lose weight?

Saying that my body shape is changing, I look and feel slimmer, but the scales are not confirming it......

Did the surgeon give you any clues as to why this is happening?

Good luck to you x

No he didn't. But the nurse said that everyone will have times where they lose inches with no pounds and then pounds with no inches. I'm definitely losing inches but I want to see some pounds!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
