Week 4: May 27-31st Sleevers

We are beginning week 4! Many of you have continued onto soft food, some of us are in puree land. How is everyone's incisions feeling? Most of mine are healed, however I have my biggest one not wanting to heal up and it still has a warm to the touch scab. Otherwise I'm quite pleased with how the others look. Better than when I had my gallbladder out!

I need to start working on supplements, I haven't really been doing that yet. I need to go through my paperwork and figure all that out. I keep forgetting to take the PPI granules in the morning. I don't have issues with acid so I seem to forget about it, but I know our sleeves are more sensitive to ulcers so I must remember tomorrow!!

Here is our group tally!

And I am down ... Wait for it... 13 kg!!!!! That's like 26 lbs I'm in awe and shock I've been on a stall for like a week so to see 6lbs drop is awesome

Hope everyone is doing well! This has made my week ( my week is Sunday to thurs in Middle East)

It's been a while since I checked in. Hello everybody! My updated weight loss-

37 lbs total 21 lbs since surgery (May 28th.

Feel good and am training for a 200 mile bike ride. I've been doing 30 milers. I think I have has some muscle waisting. As muscle firmness has definitely declined. And fatigue sets in fast.

Take care and enjoy your loss!

Not exercising yet. Waiting until I can get about 500 calories in. My body doesn't like to lose if I'm working out and too low calorie.

So now that I'm eating puree food (actually more like soft food because I'm out of town and puree is near impossible. I'm starting to have food dreams. Lol. Anyone else?

I had my first dumping syndrome !!! It was awful I had some cheddar cheese and oh my god within an hr I was running to the bathroom

I've been walking 2-2.5 miles almost daily since 4 days post op- I have done two days at the g, cardio only- but getting there is a bit tough with a baby and working opposite schedule to my husband.

I set a goal of 10,000 steps a day Monday - Friday and so far, so good after 2 weeks.

So, as a two-time veteran of the Atkins diet wars, I know that my current diet of mostly protein should have me in ketosis so losing should be pretty steady but with my smaller stomach it seems like losing is slower. I'm thrilled to not have any hunger so all worth it, but seems like weight came off faster before. Could be age or my body is still in freak out mode. Not sure.

Hello,

My wife and I had our surgery on May 29th. We've both lost around 35lbs with 10-12 of those pounds coming off in the pre-op diet.

My wife is eating about 500 calories per day. I'm eating about 900 per day. I still can't eat much per meal, but this brings me to my 1st issue (and hers a bit too).

1. I get hungry at night. I eat, then hungry an hour or two later. I don't get hungry before 4pm. I wake up at 7am and eat a greek yogurt or something for Breakfast and then Soup or something small for lunch. I can't eat over a cup (unless its liquid, then I can), I also don't drink during my meals or 15 minutes before and 30 mins after. My wife wife also gets hungry at night too, but not nearly as bad. She says pretty much the same thing, no hunger during the day but eats anyway to get her Protein, then hungry at night. Any cures for this?

2. I can't get enough Water in. I mean, before sleeve I drank like one glass a week or something but now I'm trying hard to get 64oz + per day but I just can't do it. I feel like the titanic taking in that much water! I usually get 48oz + Any tips?

Thanks!

Would love to join your group. Sleeved on 5/30.

Has anyone else had trouble drinking Protein shakes since surgery? I was fine with the whey protein pre surgery and since then if I even smell it, my stomach retches. Even the protein shots and the clear Isopure drinks. I can do some of the pre-made drinks so I've had to resort to that to get protein in, but they are very expensive. I'm afraid my hair is all going to fall out from not getting protein, like it did when I was banded.

DSMCasey- think about when you used to eat or snack? Was it at night? I too thought I was hungry but after really thinking about it I was just going back to old habits! Bring bored, eating with TV watching. I changed this by making sure I get as much protein in as possible. Also if I have to have something... I drink instead. I too don't like water but propel, vitamin water, crystal light etc help. Getting about 50-60 oz per day in. Carry it with u so drink drink drink. It helps that it's hot and summer time!

hello once again...my current weight is 214. down from 225 on surgery day. for this upcoming week i will keep track of my calories and water intake.

@@DSMCasey, I actually know what you mean, and for me, it's not head hunger. I eat during the day on a schedule, but at night when I'm in bed I feel a sort of rumbly emptiness in my stomach. It feels like a really dulled down hunger, sort of the equivalent of how pain feels really dulled when you're on a good pain killer, but you still know it's there. It doesn't bother me, and since I know I've already gotten in all my Protein, I just ignore it. But I do hope it doesn't get too much worse as I get further out from surgery.
