Any May 20th surgeries out there?

My wife and I both got done on the 28th of May and we're both down almost 100 lbs. I'm at 95 right now and I think she's at about 90lbs lost. She's been in onederland a while now. Neither of us are quite at goal weight yet, but still losing weight so we'll surely get there. I still track everything on myfitness pal. We're both loving it and looking great. Lots more energy and save quite a bit of money on food Only one negative, I have had a couple of people ask me if I am sick and thats why I've lost all the weight (cancer, etc). I look healthy, hell I even tan and look great. But just such a drastic weight change that I guess some people think its impossible. I do not share that I had surgery to most people.

    May 2014 Sleevers

I get 80-100g. If I work out I try very hard to get 100g or more. Its hard for me to eat that much though. If you read a fitness mag or look into body building those guys with thw huge muscles eat 200+ grams of protein. I think with our small stomachs there is just no way we could ever eat enough protein to be a body builder ha! But the same principle applies, if you eat carbs you wont have enough protein intake to maintain your muscle and you will start losing hair. Shrimp, fish, chicken breast, almonds, turkey breast, even lean steak are good sources of protein that should really be part of our core diet.

    May 2014 Sleevers

I dont worry about carbs/fat at all. I mainly look at Protein and calories. I dont consider eating pasta/bread until I have met my protein goal and even then I find carbs really fill me up so I prefer a hamburger with no bun or something of that nature. Sometimes I get the nasty message from my fitness pal that I am not eating enough though which is annoying! I stilll only eat about 4 oz per meal, maybe a little more. I try to stay busy though because I can snack if I am not careful. Add me on MFP: DSMCasey Thx and good luck!

    May 2014 Sleevers

My wife and I Sleeved 5/20. I have lost 75lbs and she has lost 60 or so. We have zero hair loss issues. We track food on myfitnesspal and never go below 60-80g of Protein. I am able to eat 100g protein some days. Its really all about protein. Bread/pasteries/buns we dont have the room in our tummies for thT stuff or we wont make our protein goals.
  5. Hello all, I am having a heck of a time getting sleeve surgery scheduled with Ponce de leon. I have been dealing with Trudi, but despite exchanging emails for a week I havent heard from her in 3 days now (despite the message I left and email I sent days ago) and I am just getting the feeling This is a sign that I should look elsewhere. I looked around a bit but most of the surgeries are $4500 or so and the doctors are not ones I have seen or heard of before. Anyone have any hot leads for me and my wife? We both are wanting sleeve and looking to get it done in june.

Any May 20th surgeries out there?

Heavyweight :360 CW: 304 Surgery Date 5/28/2014 No issues at all, super glad I did this. I can eat anything now, even a chocolate bar, however I choose to eat healthy 99% of the time. If I do eat a chocolate bar or something, I eat it in moderation and still hit all my calorie/protein goals for the day. I haven't had a soda since surgery and any sort of bread/pasta is tough on me.

    May 2014 Sleevers

Down 55+ lbs, I can eat anything but still struggle with pasta/bread still. I don't eat MUCH of anything, I eat a lot of small chili's from Wendys, but if I eat the crackers I can't finish the chili in one meal period.

    stall

I have hit some stalls here and there, but I have found the following things get me out of stalls quickly: -Tracking EVERYTHING using myfitnesspal -Drinking Lots of Water 64oz + I buy two big bottles a day, the local QT does two 33.8 oz Ozarka bottles for $2. I drink both (sometimes almost forcing myself to drink all the water) -Making sure I'm staying busy and not eating when I'm not hungry. -Beef Jerky/Greek Yogurt/Low fat String cheese are all your friends! I legitimately forget to eat sometimes when I'm busy, but by watching my food intake on myfitnesspal, I can make sure that I get in enough Protein. My doc said 60-80g per day minimum. I try to hit 80g-100g while staying under 900 calories. I almost always make it.

    Any May 2014 Sleevers

Me and my wife were both done may 28th and I am down 54lbs and she is down about 40lbs. I started at 360 and am at 306 now. I can eat about anything but bread/pasta just fills me up in a couple of bites and makes me feel a bit uncomfortable. I work out at least 5x a week and am in better shape now than I have been in at least 10 years. I track everything on myfitnesspal if anyone wants to add me, my username is: DsMCasey on there.

Any May 20th surgeries out there?

I was done may 28th. I have no trouble eating anything except bread/pasta which gives me "stuck" feeling. I no longer crave anything that is really greasy which is a big change for me. I loved hamburgers and fried foods but thinking about them now makes my stomach uneasy. Hw 360 Cw 310 Edit: I eat 800-1000 calories per day. 80-100g of Protein. I also workout 5-6 days a week. Usually 350 cardio calories plus some strength training.
  11. I dont know of any doctors in dallas doing it under 10-11k except dr.kim. He does a special deal for $5k but you have to qualify. I think it is tough to qualify but not sure.

    Any May 2014 sleevers?

Sleeve 5/28 and I don't have too much trouble with lettuce. Tortillas, bread, and scrambled eggs all give me trouble sometimes. I can still eat a little bit, but I get that "stuck" feeling after a bite or two.

    I need help

Yep, ketosis is a good thing. Exactly what he said, ketosis means your body is burning fat for fuel. You really want ketosis! Drink more water for sure. Most people suggest 64 oz of water at least per day. Buy those sugar free mio's that you add to flavor water if you cant drink that much water straight.

    Any May 2014 sleevers?

I have trouble with anything dense or really dry. Chicken makes me yerk if its dry. Hamburger meat is usually no problem. I had some issues with pork too, usually because its pretty tough. As for other foods, tortillas, bread, noodles and starches (besides potatoes and such) generally give me that "stuck" feeling. Shrimp and fish seem to be my easiest meats to eat.

    Mexico or not

I went to Mexico with my wife and we both got sleeved by Dr. Garcia. We loved it. Ready4Achange was amazing. I speak spanish and my first wife was from mexico so I had been to mexico many times and was not particularly scared. My "gringa" wife was scared witless but when we got to the hospital and met the people she was fine. Everything went very smooth. I would absolutely go to mexico again, and we will likely go again for plastics if needed. I would only not recommend going to mexico if you have issues that may complicate your surgery (stomach problems, some serious illness, prior stomach surgeries ,etc). Remember, if you go, there is no follow up care besides you calling down there if you have an issue. That's the big "con" to mexico. But the cost and service are great.

    Loose skin?

I can speak from first hand experience that my wife's boobs were one of the first things to shrink. She went down a cup size at least. I don't notice when she changes her hair, but I noticed the boob size change immediately I don't worry about it too much, we were both sleeved on the same date and good news for her is that I'm losing my boobs too!
  19. I only burn about 450 calories in an hour long workout, but I mostly workout at 75% heart rate, just trying to drop weight faster and tone up a little. Anyway, I went to the farmers market last weekend and grabbed a bunch of fruits and even some nice dried fruits as I was having the same issue. I eat some blueberries, a greek yogurt, and sometimes a dried peach over several hours before heading to the gym. Problem I have is I don't always have several hours to eat all that stuff before I go to the gym. Most of the time I go in the morning before work so I try and get the yogurt in at the very least and it seems to help. Good luck!

    I need help

Probably thrush but you should talk to your doctor. The first few weeks are rough, then it gets better. Talk to your doctor or give him a call. Thrush can be caused when your immune system is weak (such as after surgery) but requires medicine to clear up.

    Any May 2014 sleevers?

I hit a 4-5 day stall this past week but ended up going back into the losing column. Down about 45lbs total (35 or so since surgery). My wife had surgery the same day and is down about 35lbs with some small stalls as well. If anyone else uses myfitnesspal and wants to add me: Username: DSMCasey

About 5 months and 1 week post op

Its caused by hard stool. Very common. Eat more fiber or get a stool softener.
  23. I wanted Ponce de leon, but trudy did nothing but give me the run around. I emailed her back and fourth for a week or more because she was "too busy" to call me. Finally, after she broke her promise to call me to schedule an appointment for the 3rd or 4th time I decided god just didn't want me to get a sleeve with Ponce De Leon. I'm very happy with Dr. Garcia and would do it again given the chance.
  24. I started working out at 3 weeks post surgery. I'm 5 weeks now and my routine has been this: -6 days of Elliptical @ 40- 60 mins. 350-480 calories burned per day -3 days of light weights. Mostly upper body. My legs have really started getting defined more just by doing all the elliptical workouts. My upper body has always been an issue in terms of definition, especially my arms so I focus on that when doing weights. I don't know if this is "right" but my weight loss seems to be steady and I am not losing strength.
  25. So sorry to hear this! Both me and my wife had the sleeve from Dr. Fernando Garcia and we are a month out and feel great, zero issues at all. So sorry to hear about all your troubles, we wish you the best of luck and you will be in our prayers!
