Dr. Petrick in Geisinger Danville anyone?

Recommended Posts

Just wondering if anyone has used Dr. Petrick in Geisinger Danville, Pa? I chose him due to some positive reviews I saw. Just wondering if anyone had used him recently and how it was at Geisinger Danville.

I am having my surgery in Danville on August 19th. Docs name is Jon Gabrielse. Are you having a full incision surgery?I have been going to danville since November 2013. The horrible winter caused some delay in attending all the sessions i had to go to, but am now fully ready...I think I learned a great deal from each member of their team, and they are easy to talk to. we drive over 2 hours to get to Geisinger, but its been worth it.

Are you going to the main hospital or one of the clinics? that doctor isnt one on my list from the bariatric center.

Dr Petrick is the head of the bariatric surgery dept in Danville. I've been working with the GI/Nutrition in Wilkes Barre. Started my process in January and just had lap RNY on July 17th. I had surgery in Danville. I've heard of your surgeon-he was one of the choices I had. I, too, drive 2 hours to get to Danville. Totally worth it though! Good luck!

Hello everyone, my name is andy and i live in fairfax, Va. I grew up right outside of williamsport, pa ( a little town called jersey shore) anyways, i moved here 5 years ago and i recently had gastric bypass (3 months ago). And my family and i are moving back to the williamsport area and Danville is the closest Bariatric center. i was curious to see how they were, because i am going to have to do my follow up care there. I am sad becaz the bariatric center here is AMAZING! it is literally top notch! So i'm hoping its atleast decent there at Danville, because there is so much involved with follow up care with bypass with all the Vitamins and blood work you need checked all the time...hope someone can help me.........Andy

Hi there. Unfortunately my only experience with the GI Nutrition dept at Danville was for one visit which was my first post-op. They were great though. I go thru the Wilkes-Barre clinic and of course the program is the same. They have schedules for labs, etc. they really seem to be on top of things. There are also support groups twice a month for pre and post op patients. I think you'll be just fine with Geisinger Danville. Good luck!

I had my surgery in Danville on Nov. 17th, but with Dr. Gabrielsen. Everything was great at the hospital, I didn't need a thing. My room was on the 6th floor, which was directly across from the helicopter landing pad, which it did come and go several times throughout my overnight stay. The nurses were great and friendly and the one had bariatric surgery last year so she was extremely helpful and understanding. The only problem I had was checking out, the doctor came and told me I would be ready to go by noon, then at 2pm I was still sitting in bed and when the nurses changed shifts my discharge paperwork got misplaced so I had to ask about being discharged, but other than that I would definitely recommend Geisinger Danville to anyone.

I am at Geisinger in Wilkes-Barre but Danville will be where the surgery happens. I’m at the beginning of the 4th month pre op. Can you all tell me how you are doing?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
