We'll......I now know what it feels like to have either eaten too much or gone too fast...vomiting. Not something I want to have happen again! Now"I'm a little afraid to drink OR eat. I want to get to the place where I don't have to think so much about this whole process. Not even a month out so I have to be patient and mindful....like it or not!

Yes! Be patient with yourself! It takes 6 - 8 weeks to figure out what works best for you. Having experienced that horrible too full feeling I can agree, that you don't want to go there again! You are learning to listen to your body in a way that is new and different, of course there will be a few "bumps" along the road.

I'm only 4 DAYS out. Coming home with all these rules about what I'm "expected" to consume daily. I've managed 2 small Protein Shakes and maybe 1 8oz glass of Water. Now I'm in bed in horrible pain. I'm trying to avoid throwing up. I'm super thirsty but I know if I drink anything too fast or even too much I'll feel worse.

*fingers crossed* to feel better soon.

Ugh :(

BTW...the "expected"/ minimum is (for days 1 to 14)

3 - 8oz glasses of Water

40 grams of Protein

Crush all meds (major gag!)

Walk a minimum of 15 min

Am I just being paranoid? Should I just simmer down and slow down?

I'm 5 days out and my doctor and Nut has given me a diet of clear liquid for one week and only advance after my one week doctor's appt. Then I would advance to full liquids. So I try to sip liquids all day and next week I will advance to protien shakes. Hopefully it will not cause a problem. this program is set up so that your pouch can heal. Good Luck

I can eat pureed food now. But it's so gross. This evening, I'm doing G2 gatorade. One tiny sip to help with dehydrated feeling. Lots of diarrhea as well. Fighting hard against throwing up. Any advise is appropriated. I also tryed sim0le chicken broth w sone unflavored Protein Powder. GROSS. Made the Soup brown w big chunks. Tomorrow I'll try some shake recipes I found for phase 1 diet. Gotta be better than today. :}

@@KrissySMD if you are mixing Protein powder into hot liquid, use a food thermometer to make sure the liquid is under 130 degrees. Otherwise it will clump up like that and yes, it is gross!

Also for pureed food, I found them disgusting if I tried to do something like puree meat with Water or broth. But if I pureed it with a really tasty sauce, put some cheese on top, and heated it up in the microwave, it was more like a casserole and it tasted fine to me. So I did stuff like chicken pureed with marinara sauce & topped with mozzarella, ground beef with BBQ Sauce and cheddar cheese, salmon with tartar sauce -- stuff that would bump up the flavor instead of water it down.

Have you tried the ricotta bake from The World According to Eggface blog? That worked well for me. Also things like poached egg and refried Beans with salsa and cheese.

Good luck!

I had the same thing happen to me yesterday while drinking my Protein shake. I wasn't paying attention and drank it way too fast because I was thirsty. Spent the next 45 minutes on the toilet...yuck! Today I'm sipping my shake and taking it very slow. Live and learn!

My dietician said "do what you can". And by God that's what I've done! Today is the first day I've thrown up. Ewww....

Today is day 6 for me. Every day is a lesson. I agree, Isopure is naaaasty! I was told to mix the grape flavor with ice and Water to mellow it. NOT. Sure didn't work for me. After reading a bunch today, I ordered New Whey. It's a drink you can add to water or just drink alone. Ut has 42! Grams of protein! Look forward to trying it. Spent a lot of time up straight today to help stuff stay put. One day at a time. Stay hydrated and do only what you can manage. I only got 36g Protein in today. I'll live. We'll all have good and bad days. But we CAN DO IT!

Hope I've been a bit helpful. A lot of what I learn is on this awesome site. There's nothing like talking to people who are right where you are. Don't be upset w yourself. Concentrate on healing. Best of luck! :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
