cheating on pre-op liquid diet

Recommended Posts

My doc only required me to do liquid diet three days before surgery. They have to put in a fifth incision to put a paddle in and hold up your liver. My surgery went perfect and I am 4 weeks out and a few days and my tummy is doing fine. Just make sure you tell your doc. I'm sure it should be fine just do your best. I got wonton Soup one day and gave away the wonton and sipped the broth!! Haha it was gooood!

Im scheduled for a novermber 15 procedure; started the Optifast diet on the 17 of october... on day 18 i ate half of a ham and cheese-s sandwich... then later the same that evening half of a PBJ... then the following day one biscuit one small piece of sausage and a bite of scrambled eggs... I have 4 weeks until the surgery... did I just ruin my chances by not following the diet strictly will the docs know and make me postpone surgery? Nervous..

Thanks guys I am very appreciative of all the encouragement and truth. I am trying once again today to do better and if it becomes too much I'll just eat an apple. Out what about watermelon?

My opinion? Quit planning to fail. You are on a liquid' diet'. Apples and watermelon aren't liquid. :)

Hi all! I am writing this because I am ashamed and embarrassed because I cheated on my liquid diet with several times. Now I've read ppl posts about cheating with fruits or maybe crackers but my ass went the extra mile and ate McD three times. I am completely worried but also wondering if I should even do this. I have 10days left, will my liver shrink enough in time? I've come so far and frankly too far too sabotage it for myself. Please folks give me some words of encouragement. Keep the criticism down to a minimum please.

I'm not being judgmental - I just want you to remember the pre-op diet is for a safer surgery. Your liver needs to shrink - weight loss on the scale is somewhat irrelevant. Eating high fat / high carb foods may be an issue. I encourage you to try and get your eating disorder under control before surgery because it really helps the post-op experience. I had surgery Tuesday and stuck with liquid diet only for 3 weeks before that. My Dr said it was a good thing I did as he had to move my liver alot due to stretching of my stomach. Don't take any chances. Good luck!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
