Dumping syndrome after cherry yogurt?

Recommended Posts

I ate a cherry La Yogurt for lunch today and within an hour I was sweating and had to poop so bad. Barely made it home to have diarrhea. Is this from the sugar in the yogurt?

If it was frozen yogurt then it has TONS of sugar, even the "no sugar added" has at least 23 grams of sugar in a 4oz serving! Stay away from that sh*t or you will get the sh*ts as you discovered!

Sugar will do it to you.

You should stay from things that have more then 12g of sugar per serving according to my nutritionist.

Feel better.

After 2 episodes of cramping and diarrhea, I feel much better. It wasn't frozen yogurt, just regular yogurt. I won't make that mistake again!

Or just eat a tiny amount. The other is that you might have an intolerance to dairy based items. I can do an ounce to 1.5 ounces of cheese at a time, anything else, woof. Same for dairy, I was doing 0% milk and all after for my Protein stuff and wondered why I would pass out. We figured it out pretty quickly. Too much sugar, even the 0%.

Sprinkle the powders on food is what I do. Vega goes great in applesauce, especially the tropical flavored one.

I agree that it could be dairy intolerance, or that you ate too much yogurt and your sleeve isn't ready for it yet. Many of the responders to your post had the gastric bypass, where dumping syndrome often occurs due to sugar intake. Dumping syndrome does not really apply to the sleeve.

It does apply to sleeve. If you look in the medical literature, it has been known to happen. I sure had it really bad right after surgery for months. Its not that bad now but sometimes more than a few bites and I get the nausea, shakes, etc. Its not as bad as bypass but sometimes it can be.

I was pretty fussy when it first happened after the surgery because the surgeon said it wouldn't.

My surgeon also said it wouldn't. And it hasn't. (For me) Sorry for your experiences. Goes to show us that all of our sleeves are very different!

My friend had the sleeve and she dumps on sugary and high fat foods. It can happen :)

I have the sleeve and I have dumping syndrome from time to time. It's no fun. I hope you feel better soon.

I think it just happens that way to some people. I had problems in the beginning but I had gastroparesis for years. It seems it has come back and fluctuates. Now with a non existent stomach, and a few other things, it never seems to work right.

I still remember the first time I did. Surgeon said take childrens' Tylenol for the pain. I was sucking it up. So I was ok I'll give it a shot.

OMB

I chewed his name.

Then a friend, with a Bachelors degree in ART who was an ART TEACHER before being a SAHM, I tell her what happens and she said oh that's too much sugar, you shouldn't do that.

{{shaking head}}

That was a harbinger of things to come with the surgeon. I found out his wife was a pediatric doctor. I said no wonder his kids are alive. Ye Gods ... LOL.

I never had a problem from yogury but cannot eat anything like bacon without a dumping problem . I'm OK with yogurt in small portions

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
