Thank you, insub...I'm just like everyone else here. I've just always hated seeing people down in the dumps. It just hurts my heart. unlove.gif

On another note, I Googled "omnipac" to see if I could find out what it was. This is too funny. The very first return says:

OmniPAC, Inc., Distributors of O-Rings, PolySeals, Gaskets, Teflon ...The Sealing Specialists

O-Rings and Gaskets? Hmmm....maybe? LOL eek.gif

I'm about to call the docs office and schedule another fill and ask about this thing/stuff.

Well, I scheduled the fill for Thursday at 9:15...it was the earliest I could get in. GRRR

The girl on the phone had never heard the term omnipac, but she likely wouldn't know of it. I'll have to ask Amy, the NP.

Now I'm a little nervous. Things still get stuck sometimes...several times a week. And I'm going for more. I hope I'm making the right decision to do this now.

ONLY ONE WAY TO FIND OUT, HUH?

I have the omnipak in me. It's a thicker solution so it won't evaporate out. I live 5 hours away from my doc so I told them I couldn't be coming back every couple of weeks. I had to sign a waiver for it though.

I am scheduled for a fill on Wednesday - I can't wait. I am so mad I couldn't tough out my last fill and had to have some out. Now I am back to hungry all the time and able to eat more than I want to. I have tried really hard to eat small, but it is tough not having restriction.

Stef - I admire your dedication to exercise. I have yet to get going, but we are talking about joining the local community center.

I think a lot of us are in bandster hell right now. I would love some more help from my band, but I know I just need to be patient - easier said than done.

We can do this!

I have a "different" question for you. Are any of you dealing with people in your lives who don't agree with your weight/health goals? I have set my goal weight to be right in the middle of the "healthy" range on BMI. My husband thinks I will be "too skinny". (He doesn't like "scrawny girls".) He's not negative at all, mind you. It just bothers me that he actually said it. Truth be told, I may find that it IS too low, but I want to stick to my goal until I find that I need to adjust it. I think theres a possibility that my ribs and hips will be sticking out if I get below 160, but it's been so long since I weighed that little, that I'm not really sure. Plus, I've had two kids since I weighed that much, so I'm sure my body has changed (under all this fat!). I am going for 145, and the "healthy" range for my height is 125 to 173. I'm 5'10" tall, but I know my frame is larger rather than smaller. However, my favorite pic is me sitting on my Mom's porch with a litter of adorable kittens WAY back in 1985, and I am wearing a bandana for a belt! I don't think I could tie a bandana around my THIGH right now! LOL It's been so long since I've been thin, that the comments have me second-guessing my goal weight.

Anyone having similar issues? And how did you decide on your goal weight?

pippz how are you doing it? I think out of most of us, you seem to be the one who has met most challenges with positive results. We will all get there, but like suzzie and others said, some habits are not as easy to break, but day by day we are working it!

<embarrassed>

I guess it must look a lot brighter when you only get to hear some of my complaints/solutions/etc. In truth I've been quite sad that I lost my "Friend", my coping mechanism. My weight loss has slowed to almost nothing (or goes up 2 lbs, down 2lbs) over the last few weeks. I wasn't really exercising so I think that might have something to do with it. I started working out this morning to fix that problem.

I honestly think I just lost the weight quickly because of the carb thing. I've done REALLY well on Atkins before, so I know if I stay away from sugar and bread, I'll lose much faster. I have eaten those things, though, and definitely a lot more recently. I have a fill scheduled for later this week, though. I really feel like I need it now. The last two days I was VERY hungry, but today for some reason I'm not. It's very strange that way. I've almost thrown up twice in the last week, though. My problem is that I've always eaten quickly, and it's REALLY hard for me to slow down. If I've lost anything lately, I think it's because I ate too fast and got something stuck, then couldn't eat for 24 hours while my stomach righted itself.

Well I guess that's my two cents. I will post before and after pictures as soon as I take some "after". I was really heavy before so I don't think there's too much of a difference! But I'll let you guys be the judge. I'll tke some later.

Hang in there, everyone. We knew this wasn't going to be easy, I guess we just wait and eventually it will help. At some point the fills are going to be tight and then we'll really be changing our lives! :-)

Try spelling it "omnipaque". I know that it is sometimes used in medical imaging because it is high-contrast.

All that said, for any of you who may not have researched the effectiveness of different forms of excercise, the BEST forms for me are swimming (696 calories burned per hour), biking (801 calories burned per hour) and elliptical (648 calories burned per hour).

Jogging is 668 and running is 763, but I have no ability nor any INCLINATION for either! LOL Average walking burns 286. So I am getting rid of my treadmill...I hate it anyhow...BORING.

My Treadmill has a TV screen on it and is plugged into my DVR so I can watch my favorite shows while I'm walking (my FAVORITE form of exercise). Time flies.....I just have to get ON it!

Your treadmill sounds awesome! That is why I said those are the best forms of excercise for me...because I enjoy the heck out of them, especially my bike. I was just sharing what I had discovered in my research and sharing an opinion, is all...that and a buck will get you a cup of coffee!

The best form of excercise for anyone is the one that they LIKE, so they will do it. Walking is what you like, so it is the best for you. There is no sense being miserable excercising. Good luck to you and your fantastic treadmill!

OMG...I can't believe what I ate today for the first time. I've been so good since before surgery. (Today also proves that I am definitely ready for that fill this Thursday.)

I just ate almost 2/3 of a 6" BMT from Subway...bread and all! I've never allowed myself to even attempt it before, and it was SO GOOD! I had no idea I could eat that, and it's a good thing my fill is already scheduled!

Ugh! I can't believe it.

Stef,

I'm 5'10" also, and have a larger frame. I've kinda set 150-160 as my goal, but I haven't been under 200 pounds since I was about 13 years old, so I have NO CLUE what I would look like. I'm excited and scared to find out.

Of course NO ONE in my family or at work knows about the surgery, but most of my friends do. My biggest problem is some friends like to be the 'food police' for me. But I have heard a few comments from well meaning friends about losing weight. I have an overweight friend who said something the other night about how she doesn't know what she'll do when she is the fattest one in our group, since I'm now losing weight. She had also asked what weight I wanted to get at and when I told her she acted like I was crazy! Pft. I just blow it off.

I've also sworn off telling anyone how much weight I have lost. No one knows. I tell my friends that if they can't see a weight loss then there hasn't been one. And when they do see it, I asked them to just compliment me and not to worry about numbers.

Lol. Yesterday I had a 6" turkey on wheat with lettuce, Tomato, pickles, and mustard. Very low fat. and yummy. I was worried about the bread but no problems! I think it was easy to eat cause the bread was kind of hard. But I ate the WHOLE thing! I'm definatly ready for my 2nd fill on Thursday!!

That is a very healthy outlook! I think I need to do that with my Mom...she asks me every day what I weigh...and also acts as my food police. Really aggravates me to no end! Shoot, I've told EVERYBODY! I'm sure I've told people who could care less, too...but oh well. I'm thrilled about this. But it does have its' downside, now that people think they need to second guess my food choices, my goal weight, my excercise habits. Hubby is the only one that truly matters to me. He really is 110% supportive, always has been...I think he was just stating his preference and I need to not be so sensitive.

Thank you for the tips! They will help!

Talking about our goal weights and the like made me think about mine. I am 5'5" and started at 240# and have a goal in my mind of 140# BUT I question it because I have never been that weight that I can ever remember. And when I was that weight I was not physically fit. In high school I weighed 180# so it was at a time before I was finished growing even. So my goal is going to be at the time when I feel good in my skin and feel good looking into the mirror. I would like to be able to be able to wear a size 6 or 8 just depending on my body. I can not ever say what made that size my goal other than the fact I have never been there in my life.

I don't have a goal weight, I have a goal size. I want to be a size 14. I haven't been a size 14 since middle school!!! I was in a 26/28 AND THEY WERE TIGHT, now I'm in a 20/22 or 18/20 depending on what it is. Once I hit size 14 I want to stay there for a long time, if not forever. I need to give myself time to adjust to the notice I've been getting from guys... That really freaks me out for some reason! Plus I have all these adorable size 14 clothes that I want to wear for at least a year! I figure I'll be about 200 lbs when that happens, so about 65 more to go!

I think its awesome that some of you are shooting for awesomely low and healthy weights. Is anyone else nervous at the idea of being thin?? I've NEVER been thin in my life (although I've lost 50-80lbs 3 times now). I wouldn't even know what to do with myself!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
