It's Finally Going to Happen

Recommended Posts

I am finally getting the band removed and the sleeve procedure done. I have wanted this for a couple years and I was never able to get it done for many reasons. Mostly insurance issues and moving and changing jobs. But after 2 denials I finally got approved after I appealed it myself. My surgery is may 8 th and I couldn't be more excited and nervous at the same time.

Congratulations Teshadb. I am about 6 and a half weeks post-op now on a band to sleeve revision. I've read lots of different surgical experiences here on this forum. Some easy and painless and some pretty bad. I guess my experience would fall in the middle of that. I can say that now I am feeling pretty good. Getting back to my old self again. Good luck to you on this new journey and hopefully you have only good feelings. Let us know how it goes.

What type of insurance do you have.? I'm hoping to get the revise from band to sleeve and hoping my insurance won't give me a hard time or denies me because I really need this band out of me. Having so many complications.

Animim- I have empire blue. I have had complication such as pain and vomiting and I have had no Fluid in my band for months and I still have food get stuck. And my insurance denied me. They denied it again when the spoke to the doctor on the phone. There reason was not medically necessary and non compliant after my first surgery. Well that ticked me off because it wasn't true. So I appealed it myself. I wrote a 2 and a Hal page letter explains everything I have gone through from day one and all the diets I was on even with the band. Then also have them proof. I have them receipts bank statements order history from Amazon of buying workout equipment right down to the food scale. Even sent a pic of my workout area. Then to my disbelief they approved it!!!! I read the approval letter like 5 x to make sure that's what it was saying. It said it was medically necessary for me to have it. I hope they don't give you a hard time but don't be surprised if they do. They don't want to pay for if you had one already. But don't give up appeal it.

Tesha

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
