Grams of protein per day

Recommended Posts

I am struggling to meet my Protein goals. The NUT told me to shoot for 110 grams per day, but this seems ridiculous as I am full all day with a gurgling stomach.

How much protein do or did you consume during the first 2 weeks post op?

It took me about 4 days to get up to 75 g of Protein, but I suspect I'm a lot smaller than you. I am sure you need more protein than I do.

75 grams of Protein a day without give me plenty of choices for alternate food choices.

If it helps I am 5'11" weight 265 lbs.

I was told 60-90 Protein a day I usually get 65-70 and that didn't happen till maybe 4 weeks out . At 10 weeks out I still use a shake or two a day to get to that number

I was told 60 grams a day. I'm 7 weeks out and I get in about 60-80 grams a day with no problem.

Im 9 days out and I get about 50 grams a day. And it is a struggle to do it. Protein shakes and anything else I try for Protein such as yogurt and cottage cheese gives me bad indigestion. Right now I sip on Water all day and my Protein shake and try and do a yogurt at night.

I was told to get a minimum of 70. I have actually had no problem with that, because I use a Premier Protein shake (30) and a 20oz Isopure (40) daily. It's a good thing too, because getting anything else in, including Water, has been a huge struggle.

Jedi.

The only way I have met my Protein goal is with ISO pure 40g and pure Protein 35g (looks the same as premier protein).

But it's getting harder and harder to get these things down.

It's looks like 60 - 80 grams seems to be the norm though. The NUT didn't do any calculations based on my weight either or height. She just said 110g.

Maybe I need to investigate this gurgling feeling in my gut. I might be hungrier if that went away.

I have only heard of that high a Protein requirement on the duodenal switch. The thing with the sleeve is that its only restriction, not malabsorption. So everything will run through the intestines like normal. I couldn't imagine trying to get in 110 Protein. I can't even get my Water right now, much less that much extra protein.

By the end of my 2 week liquid post op, I am burned out on Protein shakes and ISO. I am SOOO glad I can have tuna, cottage cheese, etc now!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
