North Seattle/ Lynnwood, WA

Recommended Posts

Is there anyone in the North Seattle/ Lynnwood, WA area going through this? Looking for a sleeve buddy. Funding secured, and having my first appt May 8th. A bit freaked out, but I have a lot of support from my wife and family, so I know we will get through this... still scary as hell, however :)

Definitely scary, but well worth the journey. Remember, this WLS is a tool and you have complete control on whether it works or not. It does take a little getting used to, but stay focused, ask questions & no doubt you WILL succeed!

Best of luck!

I had my sleeve done in 12/2013 I lived in Mukilteo.

Recently moved to DC though. I went to NWWLS and it was wonderful! Wishing you luck.

Hey. I'm pre-op with no date yet. Half way through 6-month medically supervised diet. I'll looking toward Fall or next winter for a date, but I'm in North Seattle - like Northgate area. Good Luck!

Thanks for all the support and well wishes. I really appreciate it. A week from today I will have a better grasp of the process as I meet with my surgeon. Still new on this path, but resolved to press forward now that funding is secured. Funny...I have more fear over the prospect of loosing my job over this than the surgery itself. As an independent contractor, working through a staffing agency who places me in a job I have been for over three years, I have seen peoples contracts cancelled for less. Granted, my life means more... yet it is a form of stress that I need to learn to walk with... and definitely not worth giving too much power to something that hasn't even happened yet ;) Im not even sure if I qualify for the FMLA, but will definitely pursue the paperwork in case it can help.

What clinic are your going to? I am preop and have chosen NWWLC in Everett. I highly recommend attending one of their monthly support groups. You will learn much from those that have already had the surgery. Most are back at work in one week. I plan on taking 2 weeks when I get to that point.

This is indeed where I am going. I appreciate the advice on the monthly meetings, and will definitely attend the next one. Thank you for the idea!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
