Need a buddy

Recommended Posts

My name is Jennifer and I live in Illinois. My surgery is Friday. I feel like this is my chance for new life. I'm 41 and divorced. I want to lose at least 130 pounds. I've been watching what I have been eating and have lost 8 pounds on my own but I will need guidance since this is all new to me.

Hi Jennifer

I live in Indiana.....we are neighbors. I had lapband on 3/6/14. I WILL NEVER forget that date. I have lost about 28 lbs since surgery and have a bunch more to lose. I feel the lbs are not coming off fast enough but I will take 2-3 lbs a week. This is a daily struggle and I have found that the band is only a tool to help us. I have only had one fill and wasn't much so looking forward to the next fill in May.

I will be your buddy. ..If you want. We will be about 2 months apart

Take care

KIM

Hi Jennifer. I live in Illinois too, and just had my surgery Friday the 25th of April. It's been an interesting journey so far, but I am very excited! I'm also 41 years old and looking forward to starting a new life with a goal of getting 150 pounds off. My name is Dawn and I live in the north Chicago suburbs. If you ever want to chat let me know.

Hi Jennifer, It is a scary thing you are facing with eating a different diet and listening to your body. I was 45 when I had my band. It was a new procedure when I had it done. That was scary. You picked a good time to have it done. Just follow your surgeons rules. Slow down your eating and chew well. Learn to listen to your body to recognize when it is time to eat and when it is time to quit. Always try new foods in the evening. That is when your band is most open. The band is tightest in the morning. Some people can't eat until later in the morning. I wish you the best of luck in your journey. Mona

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
