Where my May 5th Sleevers at? Chime in please! One Week!

Recommended Posts

Hello Fellow May 5th Sleevers. Just found this little group and am glad to be able to compare my progress with all of you. I had my surgery in the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford Mississippi. I am 68 years old, an Inflammatory Breast Cancer Survivor and am benefiting already from my sleeve!!! I am down 26 lbs since the pre-op diet and have found that the bone pain in my legs from chemo, radiation and steroids is fading fast!!! I couldn't walk 10 feet without pain. This morning...in 2 separate tries, I walked a mile!!! Yeah ME!!! Hoping to get rid of some of these meds I have taken for years and also put my CPAP machine in the closet!

Way to go on the walking! !

I had surgery on 5/5. I can't get my Water or Protein in. I'm nauseous on and off. I have sharp pains on and off. All I wanna do is cry and give up. Called the dr.'s office, wasn't much help. All the did was tell me to space out my pills -which I have been and take an extra Prilosec. If it get worse go to er. Ahhh I am just over this.

Every doctor is different but mine told me not to count anything except Water. 64 oz a day, a sip at a time...no gulping. I could drink the Protein drink or I didn't have to. I drink Powerade Zero, Crystal Light, V-8 juice. I have creamed Soups diluted with skim milk, pureed and strained. NO chunks. I eat sf pudding and CarbMaster Yogurt (Kroger). This is my diet from May 12 until June 9.

I take 8 pills a day for numerous problems. I have to crush the pills and I have to take them 10 minutes apart. It is frustrating but I do it.

Make sure you are walking at least 30 minutes a day....it doesn't have to be all at once. 5 minutes here, 10,minutes there. Build yourself you...so a bit farther and walk longer every day. I use the Free app MOVE on my Iphone and it has been a great help

I was advised that GasX strips were good for stomach upset. I am have been so blessed....I haven't had that problem.

I hope this has been some help. I am by no means and expert or a doctor...

Just checking in with all the May sleepers. How's everybody doing? I'm going back to work on June 2nd after 4 weeks off. I feel great and hope I can continue my good habits now that I return to my stressful job. I made my first goal , 25 lbs down!

I'm sorry to hear that. Have you checked with your doctor regarding the pain and nausea? Everyone has different recovery unfortunately. Keep reminding yourself that things will eventually get much better. Take it easy

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
