Doing good thanks Willow. Well, I'm enjoying my prep repaired food and bed and a good rest, just how you say. I went to see a doctor at my GPs yesterday, really to review my meds and mention my red tongue and gums. She not really interested in sorting anything, but referred me, with persuasion to have bloods. I suspect I'm B12 deficient and a bit anaemic. Also I wanted to talk about Calcium. Not a good consultation really but the results will tell hey? Have you been in to see the doctor and come out thinking what a waste of time???? Oh well, I'll go back next week and see someone I have faith in, after results are due in. I'm having to stop myself doing too much though, as a lot of our work is physical, so I do a bit then rest, then a bit more. Looking forward to having my tattoo Willow, excited x

Your doctor sounds as good as one here. One Dr told me I needed Vitamin B12 jabs the next stopped them so had to get them restarted after seeing my own Dr again. I spoke to the one who stopped the jabs to ask what was the best Calcium tablets to take for her to tell me I didn't need them despite the surgeon and dietician saying I did so ended up phoning the surgeon to ask what he recommended. Some doctors sadly don't seem to have a clue.

I hope you are getting plenty of rest, keep in mind you just went through major surgery so don't over do things at work.

Oh I forgot about your tattoo, do you have it booked? When are you getting it?

Oh willow

Since visiting the GPs I had a letter from them. They had a letter from the hospital, and yes, I have had multi Vitamins and calcium added to my repeat prescriptions...... The GPs don't seem to have the knowledge, that's ok, but, don't tell us we're wrong, when we have "had it from the horses mouth". I've had the most awful Constipation, and went to see the nurse practitioner. She gave me 10ml lactulose a day. In the end after six days of no show and not eating I phoned the specialist bariatric nurse at the hospital. She recommended 30 ml twice a day. Well, that got things moving the next day. I really think the surgeries think we are blowing things out of proportion !!!!!!! Or attention seeking? So, eight days of not eating, and guess what, no weight loss????? What's going on????

What Multivitamin and Calcium do they have you on? My doctor gave me one which was combined but it made me violently ill and I cramped up something horrific with it so refused to take anymore of them. I went back to buying them individually as she said she didn't know what else to prescribe too me.

I have been constipated on and off since the operation, I got senna from pharmacist which seems to work. I dont know why you havent lost weight, I guess if your not eating your body could have stored everything. I actually gained half a pound this week which I dont understand as I have been doing more walking and have been eating less because of the heat.

I dont know if this will help but i take just over the counter Vitamins. I do a womens one a day multi Vitamin and a generic Calcium. I was told we need 1500mg a day. My NUT says to figure what i am eating during the day and suppliment it with calcium. I usually eat about 1000mg a day so i take one 500mg a day. They work great. I have an awesome team for.my bariatric clinic so i would be happy to help with wuestions if i can. Also if u do not eat ur 60g of Protein minimum u will sit in a stall

If u starve urself u wont lose either cuz ur body will go into starvation storage mode. U need ur protein amd Water.

Willow, I got Forceval capsules (multivitamins) and Adcal-D3 (calcium and Vitamin D) as directed by the hospital. I bet you're right about the non weight loss, coz when I used to diet I found if I didn't judge it just right I wouldn't loose anything, so maybe now I'm back on track, eating again, I might got back on the weight loss. If I could turn the clock back I would have postponed the op, as it's not really the op itself that has caused problems getting back to heavy work, but other complications, like the chronic constipation...... But I would not have cancelled x

I'm not surprised really, I was shocked when I saw the size of the capsules. We are told to chew our food, and chew, chew and chew again. I'm lucky that they slip down with me. I don't know if the GPs can prescribe Centrum. The chewable Multivitamins, I bought them when I was on the milk diet, fruity, and don't taste too bad. ????

What are you eating and are u doing any sort of exercising with your eating regimen? You should be focused really only on Protein packed food rigut now. You are still really early on but you should be losing some weight. One other question, even tho u see no movement on the scale how are your clothes fitting. Do they feel like they are getting loser? What is this sample menu they gave you? Will wait to hear back

Hi kimba

It's funny that you ask at the same time I'm here working it out. I'm looking at what I'm eating, and thinking, what could I not eat before surgery, on all of the diets I've been on before CARBS!!!!!! They really don't do me any good. On our recommended meals, for weeks 4-8, soft/ crunchy consistency, there are quiet a lot of carbs. And yes I try to have Protein. But I think I need to push more into me, and less carbs. I will say, although I am comfortable eating most of what is on the menus, protein is the only thing that seems to get 'stuck', so I'm going to work at it. And yes....... My clothes are getting lose, and I think I have lost from my face and neck too, although the scales are saying something else!!!! I have a very physical job and work long hours so I haven't been taking 'exercise' yet, but I can tell you that I am almost back to full strength, and when work quietness down I'll be back to aqua aerobics, I love it..... And of course walking. I'm lucky enough to live at the beach/ coast, so I enjoy that too. Thank you so much for making me think deeper about what's going on with my weight loss. I'll keep you posted ????

Just a little FYI, if you are eating healthy whole foods you dont really need to worry about carbs. I do not count them still am am 6 months post and down 104lbs so it works. I just concentrate on my Proteins and i dont eat processed foods so carbs arsnt an issue. The ones i get are the good slow burning ones that your body needs. Focus on eating chicken turkey and fish. All are high in Protein. U also say u are working long hours. Make sure u arent skipping meals and eating about 4 times a day. Not eating regularly can cause a stall or even a gain cuz ur body will go into storage mode. Good luck to u.

Just a quick note (so busy) you made me really look at what I'm eating. My first reaction was to cut carbs. And then I looked at the carbs I eat, they are wholesome, you're right. The old me just blamed myself...... Of course. Well, then I looked at how much I've been eating. And really it appeared not enough. I was so very scared of eating too much and stretching my new tummy. Well, the last two days I've made an effort to increase my intake, and not worry too much about the carbs, as I'm following the menus from hospital. And I just jumped on the scales and have lost a kilo!!!! Wow. So maybe I really wasn't eating enough for my busy life???? I hope that's it and I can carry on with the weight loss, hopefully. Thank you again for your support.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
