When does Hair loss typically happen? I'm three weeks post op and have had some hair loss (not a very significant loss). I've been good about getting my Protein in and taking my Vitamins. I have definitely noticed more hair in the brush. I'm just curious when everyone else typically lost and how long before it came back.

Hi, I am six weeks out and have not noticed any Hair loss but I see it a lot on these Forums. I see most people replying that they take Biotin so try that.

What I've read on this forum is what DreamsComeTrue said, and my experience is the same -- I started noticing significant hair loss at about 3.5 months post op. Biotin won't stop the loss, but it is reputed to increase new growth. I take one Biotin extended-release tablet each morning (I think it's 10,000 mg). I'm not positive it's helping, but it's inexpensive so I'm going to keep taking it.

I'm a thyroid cancer survivor. I have been taking Biotin since then. It helped. So I'm hoping it helps this time around.

I'm about 4 months out and started losing. I started taking Biotin about 2 weeks ago and it seems to have stopped. I was fine with a little bit of loss - until my hair dresser said, "Wow! You are getting thin!" I guess it is what it is. She said it's pretty typical with weight loss at the rate we are losing. You can also expect to lose hair when you have a baby, have anesthesia, have any kind of major change in your body, etc. It seems exacerbated with the weight loss, though. But that's ok. Perhaps it'll show on the scale for me. LOL!

Started at 3.5 months. Accelerated greatly at the 4-5 month mark. 6 months, it is stabilizing, but still losing. Month 7 again, still losing, but less than at 4-5 months.

Biotin promotes growth, but I am convinced the reduction in hair loss, has been down to my Iron intake. I upped it considerably and as soon as I did that, it abated somewhat.

Get your Iron in and in LARGE amounts... FOR SURE!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
