What are the signs of a leak?

Recommended Posts

I have been feeling great and following doctor's order's to a "T". I even agreed to do another week of a "Clear Liquids" just to give my new little pouch more time to heal before moving to full liquids. I have been having a hard time getting in 13 cups of liquids but besides that feeling good. I went to Target yesterday just to get out of the house and walk around. I even went grocery shopping with my 13 yr old who did all the lifting even closing the truck door for me upon entering and exiting. Today I have a dull headache all across my forehead and feel very fatigued I even took a 3 hour nap today. I also have a low grade temp of 100.6 but it hasn't gone any higher. Just wondering if the symptoms are normal for 9 days post-op. Yes I did put a call in for the doctor just waiting on his return call.

. The dull headache, fatigue and napping seem about right- but not the fever but it's possible your body is just fighting a cold or something, have you taken any liquid fever reducer to see if it helps?

Yes I just took the liquid Tylenol that the doctor prescribed after surgery. My headache is starting to subside now and I broke my fever.

Symptoms of a leak vary, but most commonly are excruciating, radiating pain across abdomen, fever, rapid heart rate, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramping, fatigue.

My doc told me to watch for left shoulder pain, in the back. He said it's the most common place to have pain if there is a leak. The fever could be an infection or your body just fighting something. Glad you have a call in.

I think if you are concerned there is a leak test your doctor could possibly perform. I think you drink something and they x-ray, cat scan, mri?? something along those lines I believe. I'd also guess that you would be horribly ill!

According to my surgeon, your stomach would be in a LOT of pain. Either way glad you gave your dr a call so he can maybe check you over to be safe.

I spoke with my doctor this morning and he doesn't feel that it is a leak. He thinks I over exerted myself by running errands and what not. I am still on a clear diet and am not getting that many calories he wants me to slow down. He is calling me in some antibiotics cause he said I shouldn't be running a temp 10 days post op. I go and see him Thursday.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
