My feelings so far............ surgery date 3/7/14

Recommended Posts

I am doing ok. I get frustrated at times because I eat and sometimes food makes my stomach hurt. I guess some food I can't tolerate. Sometimes I don't want to eat at all. Sometimes I get so hungry I feel like I can eat a horse, then when I try I eat so fast and get too full and the comes the slimies and I feel awful. Sometimes I don't feel the fullness until it's too late. Guess I'm still learning my sleeve and how much it can tolerate. Sometimes I wonder if I'll ever feel "normal" again. Sometimes I feel that I shouldn't have done it. But the good news us I have lost 30 lbs since surgery 43 in total. i am at 240 now. It's pretty awesome. I didn't have any significant problems after surgery so I am not complaining. I just feel different but thats the point right. Change. I am still learning.

I feel somewhat the same way. My surgery was the 19th. I have no hunger, no appetite. I can tell when I need to eat when I start to feel light headed and weak. I Have to force myself to eat. Before surgery I was always hungry and had all kinds of cravings all day long. When I do eat the food tastes good, I just have no desire.

I don't regret surgery I've lost 25 pounds-- just such different feelings and new emotions.

It will be a few months, but you will get adjusted to the new normal. It was 6 months before "most" foods stopped making Frankensleeve complain, at 9 I could eat anything I wanted. I think it took me months to get used to not drinking with meals and learn to eat slowly. But now it's just a built in habit. I can fill my plate or bowl and know, without measuring, if I have too much for Frankensleeve to hold. I have learned how many big swallows of Water are safe to drink. It all becomes a habit eventually. Hang in there it will get better.

I was sleeved 3\21 and I agree that it's just learning how to figure out how much the sleeve can take. I do get discomfort when I eat fast or too much food. I used to think about food 24/7 and now I need to remind myself to eat. My daily goals are my Protein and Water quotas. Not drinking while eating and waiting to drink is hard...one day at a time.

I was sleeved on 3/11 and I feel the same way, all those feelings, LOL! Trying to sit down and eat with my family is what I miss the most and I think it is hard to train all my relatives that when we get together it doesn't have to be food related. But all in all I am glad I've done this and I am loving stepping on the scale every morning (something I haven't loved ever.)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
