Exercise "March sleevers" who is up & moving?

Been walking for 30 minutes since two days post-op. In the past week, I started jogging a little over a mile around my neighborhood which contains many hills. I feel great and plan of stepping it up next week. Surgery was on 3-6-14 and I've lost 26 pounds so far. Yay me!!!

i was sleeved on 24th jan. I started some weights and upper body exercises. But My stomach has swollen....

so I better stop....I cant walk much due to arthritis. so I was enjoying these exercises with a trainer.

Now I better wait till 3 months are up.

I was sleeved three weeks ago yesterday. I still do not have enough energy to be out walking that much. I get tired and sweat profusely. I am wondering what the ages of some of you are that are able to recover and exercise so quickly..... I am one of the "older generation"... I realize I also had a little more done than my sleeve, I had my gallbladder out that was full of stones. I do have a rarer disease of my liver too that zaps my energy...but still, how are you able to get into the walking more than just a little routine. I hurt too much and tire too easily for that.

Hi Misslu...i am 59..but I forced myself to walk daily...i was walking with a stick...My lap band was not so successful..so I am determined to make this work...walk and rest...you can do that...walking will help in weight loss and also reduce gas.

Hello, I was sleeved on March 6th and I have been walking almost daily for 30 min. On the weekend my family in I go for longer walks. I signed up for a 5k memorial weekend.. Hopefully by Thanksgiving I will do another one, but my goal is to jog the entire 5K.

One month today. Back to Water aerobics tonight. Still easily fatigued. And frustrated.

Sleeved march 25th got the all clear Friday to do light cardio walking and jogging. And then I can life no more than 10lbs. This is for the next month. Then I can lift and exercise how I see fit. Going to the rec center on campus today to get my locker for the quarter. Really excited to start working out on Monday!!!!

I am 55 years old, have fibromyalgia, and neuropathy in my feet and legs. I have to use a walker. I am very limited in what I can do however when I decided to have this surgery I made a decision to find some form of exercise that I was capable of doing. I bought this XL Glider. It is wonderful. For the first month or so, I could only go about 5 minutes at a time without having to stop because of back pain. I made it my goal to get 30 minutes finished over the course of the day. And that's how I did it. 3 minutes here, 6 minutes there, until I totaled 30. I can now go 30 minutes at one stretch, barely. :) It sits right in the middle of the living room. It's not shut off in some other room where I can't see it. It sits there mocking me until I get on the darn thing. :)

You mentioned you have fatigue because of a liver disorder. I have incredible fatigue from my fibromyalgia and some days I don't even get out of bed. But the days I do, I get on my glider. The statistics show that those who exercise are more succesful with their weight loss surgery. I plan on being one of the successfull ones. Good luck!

I was sleeved 3/27, & I walk 2 miles a day and do 2 sets of 15 reps with 5 lbs dumbells for my.arms....I feel great.....I lust 32lbs so far and I had a revision from band that I lost 146 from

hello..Its too early to do dumbbells i think...I was sleeved on 24./1 .I started dumbbells recently...but had to stop...got swelling on my stomach...

we have to only walk for 3 months..till the sleeve heals completely..

I was sleeved on March 25th I'm down 25lbs and I'm walking 2 to 3 miles a day at our high school track. I feel great but get a little tired. I'm ready for the other exercises so I can start working on this gut!! Tummy be gone!! Good luck to everyone :)

Hi littleton...its wonderful that you are doing well...our doctors maybe different but the operation is the same. a huge part of our stomach is removed and the remaining is stapled....

so most doctors advise to take it easy for 3 months. I was doing fine...enjoying my weights so much....but now I have stopped.

I'm cleared for all exercise today. At one Month appointment now. Went to Water aerobics last night. Felt great!!!!!! Still so hard to schedule exercise into my day. Wish I didn't work and commute. Or I wish there were more hours in the day!

      I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

      Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

      Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
