Day 3 post surgery

Recommended Posts

It's great to hear that you're doing well and not suffering from hunger. My tentative surgery date is May 20 and as I get closer, I'm getting more nervous, spending more time worrying about all the details and so on. Reading posts like yours is extremely helpful and comforting. Thanks and I hope you continue to do well and keep posting.

Hi Jesse, congratulations -- you've made it to the other side! I am almost five months out now and can't recall those early days at all. It's kind of a blur! I did love my Popsicles, though, that part I remember. Best wishes to you for an easy week ahead......

I was stressed as well but don't worry, it's not bad. I do wish I would have stopped drinking coffee and caffeine ahead of time. The headache from withdrawal from caffeine could have made this better. But I'm moving around good. Actually went shopping today for an hour. I'm feeling healthier and it's only day 3. Also I stepped on scale and was shocked, I'm down 5.4 lbs. I'm so happy. I'll try to update my process and if you have any questions feel free to ask.

Wow u are doing way better than me. I did take a walk to the end of the block and back and sat outside in the sun. I am overly emotional and it's uncomfortable to take a deep breathe. Do u think that's ok? I am feeling crazy and worried today!

Good job Jesse and Amber! It took me a week to go walk around the park. Amber, everyone heals differently. The important thing is to listen to your body and rest as much as you can! My nutritionist said I could get moody and emotional, but it hasn't happened to me. Congratulations on being on the other side!

Amber, she's right everyone heal different. Being emotional and moody is normal. I too have told my family over and over that I'm sorry and that I love them. I guess it's the hormones but I keep apologizing for stuff. I have a type 1 diabetic 4 year old son, so I was determined to get up and move around probably faster then I should have. He needs me mobile. Let your body tell you how fast you need to recover. It's your journey. Even though our destination is the same, how we get there is different. I'm sure I'll have to be told the same. But embrace the change and emotions involved. :)

I'm 2 days post surgery, is it normal to feel pain at the actual band? I'm thinking maybe it's gas passing through since its not consistent? Im taking gas x strips.

The liquid vicoden they prescribed isn't working at allll for pain. My left side is so sore and painful at 3 incisions. I have 5 incisions ... One 6 inches beneath the center of my breasts and 4 across about 3 inches above my belly button.... The top and 2 bottom left are killer. Esp at night cause I tend to sleep on my side.

Any suggestions or advise? ??

Day 4 post surgery. Headaches and cold spells the worst. No real hunger. My guys are older and are cooking on their own. Looking to find common support chatters.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
