. We'll trade them in on tiny little fuel efficient autos when you take all the semi-tractor trailer rigs off the road. Until then, we need some manner of protection when they try to run us over.

Fossil fuels produce waste. Nuclear plants produce waste. What's the answer? Build power plants on the moon and import it. Then when that proves to not take care of business, mine the moon for stuff we can burn to produce energy. Or, let's all move to Al Gore's place. He has room and burns enough energy to warm all of us and incubate our eggs.

I must say that this has been a great discussion. I don't mean to make light - oh yes, I guess I do.

P.S. DH and I both drive whopping SUVs. We'll trade them in on tiny little fuel efficient autos when you take all the semi-tractor trailer rigs off the road. Until then, we need some manner of protection when they try to run us over.

^_^:hurray::confused: Hurray!!!!! BJean, I can finally whole-heartedly and absolutely agree with you on something!! Great post!!

Thanks LBloom! I hope you knew the first part of that post was strictly tongue in cheek.

Snuffy: Isn't America the single worst polluter in the world? My guess is that if we cut back, it actually would make a difference.

And hey, wait a minute... if the by-product of nuclear power is something we can use to make weapons that will not only kill people but make the environment lousy with radioactive material that keeps on giving, how is that a bad thing? Oh wait a minute, a peace loving person just might be elected next November. That may cut down on the need for more bigger, badder weapons in the near term, ya think?

Who me, sarcastic?

We can sing anyway, Bloom. It'd give me a chance to stroll down church camp memory lane. Besides, I got really tired of all the negative-speak that went on here last week. Singing Kum-ba-ya is much more soothing to the soul.

Hydrogen technology, Jack! What a concept!

snuffy: I'm always on your team. But since the DH no longer works in defense contracting, I don't have to vote for war anymore. ^_^

Newsmax.com - Gore Has Personal Stake in Anti-Warming Campaign

While I don't think it's inconsistent to invest in things you believe in, I do believe people should be aware that Gore stands to profit financially from the promotion of "green".

Pretty good article but again, do some more research. The story sounds like he is invested in all those companies he was showing on the overhead, however he isn't.

His GIM investing portfolio has been made public you should see alot of reports like these:

According to the report, GIM has $438 million invested in the following 22 companies: AFLAC, Amdocs, Autodesk, Becton Dickinson, Blackbaud, Donaldson Company, General Electric, Greenhill & Co., HDFC Bank, Johnson Controls, Laboratory Corporation of America, Metabolix, Millipore, Mueller Water Products, Northern Trust, Procter & Gamble, SPDR Trust, Staples, Techne Corp., UBS, Varian Medical Systems and Waters Corp.

GIM's top five holdings are Johnson Controls, AFLAC, Becton Dickinson, General Electric and Procter & Gamble.

Al Gore says on the GIM web site that, "Integrating issues such as climate change into investment analysis is simply common sense."

But with the exception of General Electric -? which actively lobbies for global warming regulation while its stock significantly underperforms the broad stock market ?- GIM's portfolio doesn't seem to have anything to do with climate change. Notably absent from GIM's portfolio are energy and utility companies -? even those that claim they will benefit from global warming regulation. With the exception of GE, corporate members of the pro-global warming regulation lobbying group called the U.S. Climate Action Partnership are also missing from GIM's portfolio.

This story went out last year and ever since conservative moderators just bring up GE. GE is the only company that directly relates to what Al Gore is preaching. This is because GE makes the energy saving light bulbs he mentioned.

GE is this largest non-oil company in the world sells thousands of products. I highly doubt their stock would go that much if they sold a few more lgiht bulbs.

TRY AGAIN! ^_^:thumbup::confused:

Where does one find a copy of his current investment portfolio and how can one be sure it is comprehensive?

That is his porfolio. Its been displayed on all news sites including all major news organizations. Also, the same news article you linked got it's reporting from a right wing site that posted the same portfolio.

Liberal sites have been hollaring becasue Gore doesn't have any "Green" companies in their portfolio.

Conservative sites are hollaring about Gore having GE in there.

Most financial investors will tell you any major investment firm has stock in GE.

I just wanted to add he does have a charity organization that does invest in "green" companies. So Al Gore technically has a kind of "stake" in more "green" companies, however he in no way profits from them.

I don't think in anyway this suggests erroneous behavior.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but he is under no obligation to disclose his portfolio publicly. Therefore, how can we be assured that what he does disclose is comprehensive?

By US Law if you are making over $100 Million in investments you are required to fill out a Form 13F. Which makes you fill out all your holdings, including how any stocks and what type they are. This 13F form is what news reports were coming from.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
