Ever worry about being too thin?

Recommended Posts

Since the start of my wls journey ive lost about 35 lbs...just eating a bit better and getting half way thru my pre-op diet. I am 5'8" and was at 288...now im 250ish and Im scheduled for surgery on 3/27. Im not nervous about it but in the end I realized that I'm am scared of losing too much weight and looking unhealthy on the other side of the spectrum..I never really set a goal weight for myself because I dont know where I'll end up being comfortable at I love my curves and dont want to lose them all completely......any thoughts on being too thin after wls? am I the only one who gets sad at the thought of becoming a stick figure?

Best wishes to you. You probably won't lose your curves - you'll enhance them. They'll have more definition without the fluff on them. When I went from 325 to 175 the only thing that I didn't like was that my face had wrinkles that never showed before that, but I'm probably a lot older than you. If I had my wishes I'd get sleeved and get back to 190. That weight I was in size 12 and not gaunt looking in the face.

Good luck. Enjoy your enhanced curves!

Sue

I am also 5'8 . I weigh 223. As far as weight goes, between 140 and 150 is very nice. You keep some curves and I'd you weight train a bit your muscles will show a lot of definition and those curves are really sexy as well as help give you a little 'lift' I wish you the best of luck and when is your surgery? Mine is May 26th.

I asked my surgeon and my nutritionist the same thing. They both told me that when you get down to your ideal healthy weight, you will be able to eat to maintain, because your body and your eating habits will adjust. Just as there are some who do actually gain weight back if you're not careful, you can also adjust your calorie intake and activity habits to stay at the weight you want to maintain.

Hope this info helps, and I wish you the very best in your journey!

Your body will level off and find it's sweet spot. You may or may not like that spot. Time will tell.

I am your height and started at same weight. I got to normal BMI in 10 months but that wasn't my final goal. My body must've agreed because it wasn't hard to lose another 25-30 pounds

Today I am 145 pounds. My surgery was in August 2012

I wear a size 4. Perfect for me. A size 6 would be cool too

I never had boobs so not having any now is no biggie. Push-up bras are amazing

I used to have a big booty. Even when I was young and skinny, I was known as the girl with the big butt. Well that was the first to go this time. It's not FLAT but for those who knew me back in the day, it's different. I'm not mad thought. I have hips and curves still and look great in a bikini.

You will too!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
