Feel great but not losing

Recommended Posts

Hi, I was sleeved on March 4th and I feel fantastic. I would not have know I had surgery if it wasn't for my incisions! I'm just getting discouraged. I've only lost 12 pounds and that was in the 3 days after surgery. Is it typical for a stall to happen within the first week?

I was also sleeved March 4 and we have lost exactly the same. I am thrilled for the loss. You must remember that although you feel great you are still probably swollen and retaining Fluid as well. Have you had regularly bowel movements? Have you began phase 2 with the creamed Soups (taking in more calories then previous weeks)? Are you near your cycle? All these could be factors. My understanding is that a stall is 2 weeks or more at the same weight.

I'm curious what you mean by saying that you wouldn't know you had surgery. Is your intake restricted by your sleeve? Your hunger?

Most people report a stall in the 3rd week, but mine was in the 2nd and 3rd weeks. I am 2.5 mos. out and have only had one other week without a loss. As they say, keep following the plan your Surgeon and NUT gave you and it can't help but happen.

Texasmeg, I mean that I feel fantastic! No pain, no tiredness, nothing. I have to remind myself not to lift anything heavy. As far as eating and drinking, I follow the rules that were given me and I have no problems at all. I'm not hungry, I have to remember to eat. I have been able to hit my Protein and fluid goals without a problem. The only issue I may have is with Water. I just don't like it as much as I used to. I've read responses to that so I'm not worried. I am concerned that the sugar free flavoring that I'm putting in it is hindering my weight loss.

SkinnyMinnyIwillBe, I am eating pureed food, BM's have been fine, went thru menopause when I was 35, so not my time of the month. I was just hoping for something a little more significant. :)

discouraged. only lost 12 pounds

kcipriano

you/me/we are NOT allowed to say the word "ONLY"

as in i "only" lost X amount of weight

people have been shot for less :D

each lb is a victory :)

glad you are healing nicely - feeling good

down 12 lbs after 3 days

thats great!!!!

i don't think you should call "your situation" a stall!!!!

continue to follow all the rules (I know you will :) )

eating so few calories - it isn't possible not to lose weight

never compare your weight loss to others

the thing we all have in common is "that we're all different!!!"

good luck

kathy

proudgrammy couldn't of said it better!! I am also in my 3rd week and feeling the pressure of not loosing any weight this week. I have lost 24 pounds and I am off some of my meds and feel great.

See ProudGrammy's post above again! Smart lady! I think if we are feeling good and making solid choices about food and activity, we are LEAPS and BOUNDS ahead of where we were pre-op! Isn't it great not to have the nagging burden of the fridge calling, like a monkey on my back? Just the absence of acute, obsessive cravings in an incredible mental release. The scale only tells about one portion of our victory. I don't get on it every day for that reason. My mind and my loose clothing are telling me the truth.

I am still on Phase 2 liquid until the 21st. My Doc makes us do 2 weeks of this before pureed. How is it going to something more solid?

Good. Refried Beans and cottage cheese are my favorites. I think I was losing more on the liquid/puréed stage though.

transition was good. I have a scrambled egg w/cheese for Breakfast. I never thought 1 egg would satisfy me, but it does!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
