The truth is the light. I hope to be able to talk with more people that struggle with emotional eating.

Hello,

I also am an emotional eater. This was very hard to say, but once I did there was a weight lifted of my shoulder. Then I decided to have weight loss surgery. I know the surgery will not stop the emotional eating. It is a matter of talking myself through the emotion now.

Its so hard to accept the things about us that we don't like. I think that taking the time to really know ourselves can help to reshape us into the people we deserve to be.

I am also an emotional eater. My sleeve surgery is May 1st. I'm exited, nervous, so many emotions but always hungry. I know my life will change now, i'm happy about it, just afraid of going through it alone. Glad to see there are others like me.

Hello all,

I am new.

I got my lap band in 2010 and am down 60 lbs. Surgery weight was 340 and today I am 280ish. i Usually yoyo between 265-290. I am an emotional eater. I come from an upbringing that when things are good (i.e. there is money available) then we eat WELL as in A LOT. When things are not financially good, we didn't eat well.

I think I have trained my mind to believe that a full belly = stability and good things. It feels very weird to type this out, because I know that the condition of one's life is not determined by a full belly. it sounds completely nuts.

I just found out at the doctor that my lap band pouch has stretched, because I am stuffing myself with food I should not be eating. He had to unfill me to ease the inflammation. I am hungrier than ever.

I return on 6/13/14.

My back is hurting worse than ever. My asthma is worse than ever. I do not want this any longer.

My better half is loving and supporting. He just wants me to be happy. I have 2 great kids, a dog, and just got a graduate degree.

If I can just control my eating....If only....

I, too, am an emotional eater! Say what you want about WLS, but if you don't learn to control the emotional eating, WLS just isn't going to work. Not only am I an emotional eater, but I also have some pretty bad eating habits (snacking in front of the TV, eating on the go, snacking at my desk). I would bet most WLS patients have tried just about every diet known to man, hoping that "this is the one" that will change my life. I thought WLS would change my life. I thought it would force me to eat smaller portions. I thought I would get sick if I had things like pop, salty/fatty Snacks, sweet treats, etc. But, no, nothing has changed. I get up every morning thinking that today is a new day, one free of eating mistakes. I'm going to be strong, eat healthy, get some exercise. HA! Every night when I go to bed I'm thinking tomorrow is a new day, I'll do better tomorrow. One of these days, it's all going to sink in....I'm just hoping sooner than later.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
