I have actually done great since surgery! I struggled the first few weeks with nausea and weakness and I ended up taking 6 weeks off from work. Most of the people I know who had the sleeve bounce back much faster. I found my gastric bypass more challenging. Out of my surgical group, I was the only one who had bypass, everyone else had the sleeve. I have followed the plan very closely and as of today I am down 72 pounds. My weight loss has been more rapid than some peoples but I feel good and all I am doing is following my guidelines. I should be exercising more but I do struggle with some decreased energy still but it improves all the time. Best advice I an give you is to have everything set up for you at home. All the foods which you will be allowed over the next 2 to 3 weeks, plenty of Water if you like the bottled kind and all the supplements like Vitamins and Protein powders you may need while in the early recovery stages. Just use small bowls, small plates and plan on continuing to use them which helps keep your portion size down. For the first few weeks, I found toddler size spoons useful because they help keep you from taking big bites.

Good luck! Right now I think it is the best decision I ever made!

I havent had the surgery yet but I have one month left of the physician weight management that the insurance requires had my psych evaluation today. I have been taking Vitamins for several months now. I have lost 25 lbs so far and I am getting nervous and excited to have the surgery. I just hope I am making the right choice.

I just got my surgery date. It is Jan. 7th 2015. What a way to start the new year. I am excited. I start my pre-op diet on the 27th of this month. Little worried about that just liquids may be difficult. Has anyone else from Ia. found out when there surgery dates are.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
