Gas, Gas and more gas

Recommended Posts

Okay, it is going on two years since I had my surgery and I became a gassy person. I get even if I sip Water. I some times feel bad for the people on the bus because when it comes out the other end and it does all the time it is smelly. I can't stop it. I talk I burp. I walk I fart. I take GasX or Beano nothing. As I typed this question I burped about 20 times and they were not small one. Please tell me this is going to stop. Someone Please

I have the problem with burping. Even though it's an antacid, try chewing on Tums throughout the day to keep the gas down. Also, you might want to watch your carb intake since it a major cause of gas. Gas-X didn't work for me at all but ever since I started chewing 3 or 4 tums a few times a day, my burping is barely noticeable even though it's still there and like you, I burp even when drinking Water. It's kinda depressing though to hear that you're suffering from this two years post-op. I was keeping my hopes up that it was temporary since I'm only 2 months post-op.

I get horrible gas, especially if I eat anything with sugar. Carbs like rice are not as bad but if eat candy or a cookie , I better go and hide for awhile.

It's a big problem for me. I hate it. Some days, I have no idea what's causing it.

Being a vegetarian.... all that Fiber, cabbage, Beans and such, can really lead to some gasbomb days! The intestinal biome loves to make gas!

Was wondering if this ever went away lol. 3 months out and fart ALL the time. Small price to pay I guess, thankfully mine have no smell either.

I didn't think mine had a smell cause I can't smell it but according to my daughter, they reek.

I've had other people say something wondering who smelled up the entire room, and I wanted to run and hide.

My poor husband looks at me like he is amazed because I would never fart like I do now. He laughs cause he knows Im super embarassed. But its so funny, a friends husband ran up to us as soon as he heard I had surgery like his wife, warned my husband that I would be gassy we both said nooooo but we soon said yeeesss

My husband and sons find it funny too. My husband finds extra humor in the fact that sometimes I unexpectedly do it while walking.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
