Rubber Girdle

Recommended Posts

I have a friend that is a personal trainer. I asked him how I get rid of the upper and lower flabby abs for a flat stomache and he said lose weight and wear a rubber girdle. Do you know if we can wear these? I found one made by Squeem that says you lose 1-4 inches due to the compression, perspiration and micromassage (Squeem Rubber High Back Waist Cincher Girdle ). I was thinking of ordering one but did not know if this is okay to wear after weight loss surgery. I am 4 months out from my lap band surgery.

Thanks,

Cherica

Honestly, that sounds like a bunch of hooey to me. I dunno, maybe if you're younger, it could offer a tiny bit of help in that area, but if you have stretch marks, in the area you want to firm up, it most likely won't do a thing. I wish there were a magic rubber girdle that would help cuz after a lifetime of being large and four children, my belly is gonna need surgical intervention after I reach goal.

I agree...ick. But, I have talked to my surgeon about this whole loose skin issue and he pretty much said that there's not much you can do except exercise then surgery down the road. So, I use firming lotions and just let it all hang out!

There's so much great underwear around now that ALL women can benefit from.

I wouldnt wear constrictive girdle style things everyday, ugh, but for special occasions, slinky dresses etc I think most people overweight or not look better with Spanx style undergarments holding everything in. They're remarkably comfortable and not the least bit rubber like.

It will come off with weight loss - eat right and lots of cardio are the primary weapons, and abdominal exercises fine tune things.

Honestly, I'm nearly at goal weight now - under 80kg this morning - but I have a 40 year old body, that has born 3 babies. I've still got plenty of flab. Difference is now I have figure problems that I can dress to hide, not just all round hugeness. You'll get there and you dont have to torture yourself with a rubber girdle to do it. It just takes time.

All it will provide is temporary redistribution of your bodily fluids in that area, aka Water retention. It's just like a spa wrap, temporarily reduces inches, except a trip to the spa is a lot more fun!

I agree. Ever since my spare tire(s) above the waist became noticeable with clothes on, I wear the fabric sort of girdle when I want a sleeker silhouhet. I get most of mine at lane bryant. Though there is one bodysuite type one I got at Lipo in a box. I have a variety of those undergarments -- one that is like shorts, good for the thighs and up to the waist. Also helps when I wear a skirt for thigh chafe. I've got high waist panties that go up to bra line nearly, etc.

Well I don’t know about a plastic girdle but I know of that old home remedy of preparation h and plastic wrap. You can look it up I am not kidding. I have a friend who swears by it. She does it right before bathing suit season to firm up. Check it out!!!

pretty much all that stuff is temporary. Not that temporary is bad if you are trying to look better in a dress, etc, but it wont last.

I have some Spanx too. :girl_hug:

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water. Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
