How many tubs of Protein Powder will I need to order? I start my pre-op on 3/6 surgery on 3/20. What do you all think?

I only ordered one and have used maybe 1-2 scoops out of it. I use ready to drink Protein drinks (Premier Protein) because I like it much better. I would order some samples and see what you like.

Here is one place that has samples: http://www.nashuanutrition.com/store/protein-powders/protein-powder-samples-1-serving.html?_vsrefdom=google1&gclid=CPb96s_w5bwCFRQV7AodUB4Aeg

Don't order any tubs prior to surgery. Instead get several samples of many different brands and flavors and wait to order tubs until you try a sample after surgery. Too much risk of your tastes changing with the surgery. Places you can get samples:

http://www.unjury.com/store/protein/unjury-starter-kit.html

https://vitalady.com/protein-supplement/

My favorite brands from Vitalady and Nashua Nutrition were Syntrax Matrix, Syntrax Nectar, Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard, BSN Lean Dessert, and Gaspari Myofusion. The last two are kind of high calorie though.

Once you get situated post-op and have a better idea of how much Protein you are using, you'll be able to figure out how many tubs to order. Good luck!

I concur with others. Do not buy a large amount, or a bunch of anything. Just get a little of this or that. Otherwise, you'll have so much stuff left over afterwards. And it's not like you'll be incapacitated post op, to go to the store then.

you might want to check the Body Fortress brand that they sale at Walmart, I have found that it is the best value since it is low calorie, high Protein and only $20 a tub. They come in lots of good flavors, personally I like the chocolate peanutbutter and the Cookies and cream, and you can't beat the convenience of just going to Walmart and pick them up. Good Luck.

Be sure to check the quality. It's very important for us. Anything with a butt-load of -oses is not that great. It breaks down to sucralose, cellulose, etc. those are fillers and jeopardize the quality of the Protein.

Yes, taste buds change after surgery so definitely stick with sample packets to find the flavor and which one works for you.

You got this! Stay motivated and stay the course. ;)

I agree with the taste buds changing. Before surgery I loved the Protein Shakes but now I have to force myself to get them down.. Hoping to find ones that taste better.. And for those of you that use Protein in your Soups what kind and where do you get those? Thanks..

I agree with not getting tubs of Protein. My taste buds did not change after surgery but during the liquid phase I used ready to drink Protein shakes from Atkins, Carnation and Premier Protein. I was instructed to drink 4 ounces of Protein shake every two hours and the RTD were very convenient.

At eight weeks out I start most days with a homemade shake using powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury Protein, Chike or Syntrax Nectars. It is pretty rare for me to drink RTD shakes now.

I really like the Syntrax brand. Especially the chocolate truffle. I hope that doesn't change post-op! I haven't cared for any of the RTD brands I have tried.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
