Slider Foods? What is everyone's slider fiods?

Gettingsexyback

I lost 42 pounds before surgery. I am now 8 weeks out from surgery, 12/23. The first 4 weeks I was on full liquids and at 450-600 calories. I was able to do some light cardio on a recumbent bike, but it was an effort. The last 4 weeks I have been on soft Proteins, 600-800 calories and have gradually intensified the cardio getting to 30 min a day for 5 days. I have managed to keep losing, 48 lbs since surgery.

Next week I graduate to stage 5, adding fruits and vegetables and a calorie count of 800-1000 calories. After a short vacation I will begin some strength training and will watch calories closely. I feel like I may need to increase to 1200 calories at that point to make sure I can support the needs of muscle recovery.

I think that you have to make the call regarding calories and what your body is telling you. I have focused on consistent weight loss, staying within the guidelines given to me. I am also committed to no white starches: potatoes, rice, bread, etc for at least my first six months. So I haven't come across any slider foods yet because all I have eaten is liquid and soft Protein.

Unfortunately for me, sliders happen on occasion. I have to really watch it.

Red vines (addictive)

Tortilla chips

This was my belief also. But I have started eating some old foods that are sliders and have gained about 5 lbs back. I recently lost my cat, he got out and 9 days later we found him dead under a shed and since then I am so off track with eating. :( sliders is what I crave and I will stop this. As of today.

My biggest slider is Cheetos. And then of course I am addicted to sugar so candy has no boundaries either. Oh and the Quest bars are my crack. Can't seem to stop buying them. "Angry" at self!

I just don't allow myself to eat anything high cal or carbs, I think it's very important to keep yourself away from the bad food that could become your slider. My personal belief is I put my body threw major surgery and had a huge part removed, why do all that if I go back to my old ways. This is just how I believe. I understand not everyone thinks that way but it's working for me. Iv lost a total of 80 lbs 70 since sleeved oct 9 th, my way of thinking had paid off for me. So at 11 days post op plz don't be even wondering ab sliders bc it might be your down fall a few months out

I didn't ask about slider food because I want to know what "trick foods" are. I simply didn't know what the term "slider foods" were so I asked. Please don't assume or doubt my intentions.

Slider foods are high calorie high fat item which can still be eaten easily and in quantity after surgery. Some examples are as follows: ice cream, milkshakes, chips, candy bars, Cookies, alcoholic drinks, fruit juices, etc. I hope that helps

I am 8 weeks out....I haven't found a slider food yet..and I REALLY hope I never do.

I have tried popcorn, chips and cake on my Bday..but they didn't go down easily. I haven't pushed the envelope any more than that.

Stupid question, but why are some of you even trying to find your slider food?

'Eaten easily and in quantity' does that mean you're able to eat a large amount or very little? This is my first time hearing/seeing anything about slider foods, just want to be clear on what it really means...

Here is the easiest way to explain sliders....If it is something that tastes good, ( or did) is processed, out of a bag, box or drive thru and you know it is bad for you- that is a slider. They go down easy, you can eat too much and they were never good for you to begin with. Everyone will eventually experiment with sliders. (or a large majority of folks) The key is to identify and try at all cost to avoid. Yes, it happens. Just don't allow to happen too often because it IS a slippery slope!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
