April 2014 sleevers

Recommended Posts

Take it easy, I am 3 weeks post op and as each week goes by I have been feeling better. My advice is give yourself time to recover it will take a little time, take one day at a time, all the best.

Day 3, Still sore...lost 12 lbs and I'm just gettin home from the hospital. They also repaired a hernia tho. I don't like this drain that I have to measure myself and the shots to prevent blood clots that I have to shoot in myself but thank goodness for minimal gas pains and no nausea or vomiting. I can drink just fine but I'm taking small sips often. I feel much better today than 2 days ago. My mom is loving her new bribery videos...smh.

I am 1 week and 1 day post op... I also still get gas pains!! I am struggling to get my liquids in today because I have just been so busy... I think I am doing too much! Blah! I don't take any pain medicine. I have no problems getting around but now and then I get a twinge around my cuts on my tummy. 3 more days to cottage cheese!!! Wooohooooo can't wait! Haha

I am 6weeks post op and my weight has slowed down to about 1 pound a week, this seems very slow after the first 4 weeks post op. Lost a lot of weight while on the liquid diet but very slow now, has anyone else hadthe experience?

I'm 10 days post op just tried Greek yogurt for the first time it made me stomach grumble. But today I got on the scale and I'm .4 lbs heavier.... What's going on with me?!! I've lost 28.5 lbs so far. I'm in such a down mood today I was so hoping to be closer to 30lbs today.

Don't worry everyone goes through stalls... I don't weigh myself a lot because of that. Sometimes you may be building muscle and that weighs more than fat. I am measuring my process on if I can move down to the next size!! Haha

Erin414... Don't worry about gaining .4 lbs a woman can easily gain and lose up to 2lbs at a time thanks to our wonderful hormones!! Plus your body is still adjusting to the new diet and trauma it just went through! Once you are further out and more healed, you will be able to really start exercising and you will notice more weight loss then! Keep your head up and remember, as everyone says, you didn't gain it all over night and you won't lose it all overnight! Like the tortoise slow and steady wins!!

You have done great to this point and positive things are coming! Just keep following the drs recommendations and YOU WILL BE SUCCESSFUL!!

I think that you just keep going eating good food, I am going to try and stop weighing myself every day as its a bad habit to get into.

I am a week and 4 days out PO and I will be going back after three weeks!! I know I am gonna have a hard time getting the Water in! I am hoping I can drink more than I can by then at a time. I have a desk job mainly. But we'll see! I will have to take a big water bottle in and make sure I drink it when I can! I don't think it will be too bad if I come up short a little bit. I didn't drink 64oz pre op ever! Haha

My doc has me off protein shakes all together after the second week! He wants me to get all my calories from solid food at that point. : ) so water is all I have to worry about! I am figuring a hard boiled egg for Breakfast cause it's quick... Some Mac n cheese in my 2oz container and some cottage cheese in another for lunch... Then who knows for dinner I will be home by then! Hah

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
