Recommended Posts

Hi all, im new to group, I had gastric sleeve on 29 Jan. I have been pn puree food for a few days and the don't feel right in my stomach. I was looking forward to chew again after the liquids, but thr food doesn't feel right in my stomach, and sometimes hurts abit even with a few mouthful, I don't feel full, but it hurts and feels uncomfortable. has anyone else felt like this, it wont last forever will it?

I had a hard time on purée foods. It did not hurt me.. But it would not stay down. There are plenty of symptoms that we all feel after our surgery ..some are normal, some are not. I would call my doc and explain your situation.. Just to be safe.

I had surgery on 1/29 too! :). I think maybe what you're experiencing is being full. While on liquids, I never got that feeling but when I switched to purée, yep-there it was. How much are you eating before getting that feeling?

Hi Carlotta 1 and Hi Slmwo, sleeved on the 29th too fancy that! Some foods (normally mince or stew) I just have about 3 spoons full and feel that heavy, slight pain feeling, but if I have cottage cheese and avocado I can have more.(maybe quarter to half a cup).

What does it feel like for you when you feel full? is it how I explained? How much can you eat and what sort of things go down better for you?

I also had surgery on Jan 29th. I've never had that too full feeling because I'm afraid to puke. Always using 1/2 cp portions or just couple bites of everything on my plate to feel satisfied but not full. My worst issue is when I'm thirsty I want to drink Water too fast. I've always loved ice Water and now I get brain freezes faster. lol.

I'm already at a plateau are you? scale hasn't moved in 5 days! :(

I described my full feeling to my husband like this: imagine going to a buffet and just eating and eating and eating until you're about to explode....only, it just takes a few bites to get me there. It's strange, because I can drink a full 12oz Protein shake but only take about 4 bites of chicken. So, I think the softer foods sit/pass differently (that's a guess) - so, to me, it's sounds like exactly what I'm going through. I can eat a full 4oz of cottage cheese and one of the 100 calorie wholly guacamole just fine. But when I get to actual meat, it just sits heavier and I can't eat as much. :) I hope that helps some...

Even after a year from my surgery if I eat a hamburger, steak, pork chop, chicken I am full after eating about 6 ounces. A 5 ounce greek yogurt or cottage cheese goes down easily and not overly full. The dense Protein fills you faster and stays with you longer.

Maybe think of your new tiny tummy as a funnel. liquids go right through. Yogurt sits a little longer then goes. Dense Protein sits quite awhile.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
