March 2014 Bandsters - Let's Do This!

Recommended Posts

Hello.

It's here. My date is 3/13. I'm excited and nervous. I will start my diet on Monday. I have to go to Walmart tomorrow to pick up Vitamins. I'm going on vacation tomorrow so I will enjoy my last few days. I haven't told anyone I decided to do it after I got so much negative feedback when I said I was thinking about it. It's the beginning of a new life.

I know what you mean about negative feedback! I only told a few select people. People that haven't struggled with their weight just don't understand! Congrats on your decision! Best wishes!

I have only told a few people, too. I figure after I start losing more and getting to goal, people will ask what I have been doing and then I will tell them.

My surgery is Monday!

I have a question. Can anyone suggest a Calcium supplement? I have one but it is strawberry creme flavored and I just cannot tolerate them. Have been on my pre- op diet since Tuesday and am doing well except for this.

Hi all. I am new to the forum and found you all when I started looking for information. I have been approved for lapband and my surgery is set for March 17th. I start my pre-op diet on Monday, so this weekend is my last hoorah. I'm excited, but so nervous!

For the Pre-op diet, is there a particular Protein Shake that people prefer? My surgeon's guidelines are a Protein shake for Breakfast, a protein shake for lunch, and a lean frozen meal for dinner (under 300 calories, under 15 grams of carbs and 15 grams or more of protein).

Diet day... oh boy! I can do this!

Yes you can do this!!!!

I had a small panic attack the first day but about after day 2 of the diet it was better. I have dropped 13 lbs in 9 days.....I would be happy with 1 lb a day wow....I sometimes feel I can do this without the surgery and save 13000 but....I know I cant. Just be honest and true with yourself with this preop diet. And make sure you get enough Protein in...I thought drinking 1 shake would be less calories so it would be better.....well...not its not...you need the protein oddly enough to shed the lbs.

Good Luck....You got this!!!!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
