February 2014 post op losers

Hi February losers! I know we've got a great group in the pre-op sub forum, but now that we are on to week two, thought we should start the thread over here too! I see a few other Feb stragglers around so hopefully they can join here too.

I had my surgery on Monday 2/3. I'm down 10.5 as of one week. Not sure if this is a normal amount or not. I'm not getting in much calories, but do get in Protein of at least 50g per day (need to up this) and all my Water. I have a drain which still causes me pain. Other than that thing, I'm doing good on my incision and recovery. Today I start back up work, but thankfully it's from home and I just have to work on a laptop or computer.

So looking forward to the losing phase of this journey with you all and learning and growing from each other.

Erin... you are beautiful!!!.. congrats on hitting your goal

I haven't posted in forever. From a 24 to a 12. I've actually gained some weight recently but not gone up a size. I've been working out a lot and I've added some muscle. post-201974-14382720382816_thumb.jpg

Thanks I do! I do have some issue with my blood sugar from time to time but other than that I feel fantastic. I typically work out 3-5 days a week, I do yoga now, in insanely active compared to my previously life. I have no regrets what so ever.

Hi girls!

Wanted to let you know I am having a plastic surgery tomorrow. I'm excited, but SO nervous about the recovery. I am doing a full belt (incision all the way around to remove the loose skin from my torso) and also a boob lift. Procedure is scheduled to take 7 1/2 hours. Please think good thoughts for me!!

Thanks for checking in Deanna! The surgery went really well. It was supposed to go 7 1/2 hours and only took about 6 1/2. I'm on day 18 post op I believe. The first week was brutal! Even the 2nd week was tough. Because I had a belt lipectomy which the incision goes all the way around, there is not one position to be in comfortably, plus you can't lay flat or lay directly on the tail bone (risk of opening up). I am still sleeping in a recliner and hope to move to the bed soon. I'm still swollen on my tummy, but happy with what I can see so far. My boobs are awesome! They went from hanging almost to my belly button to firm boobs right where the should be. They don't even move! It's wild, I look in the mirror and don't recognize myself. My husband says once we can become intimate, it's going to feel like an affair to him LOL I was able to wean off pain pills during the day after 6 days, so I could drive. I take tylenol during the day as needed and take pain pills at night to sleep ok.

I went back to work after 2 weeks and it's been difficult mostly due to energy levels and I've started to swell in my ankles. I'm now to go back in compression stockings and try to move every 30 minutes. By 2 or 3 o'clock I am done! I worked it out so I could leave at 3 everyday this week and that has been a good idea. I was supposed to travel for work next week, but doctors nixed that.

Let me know what other details or questions you may have. I'm happy to share anything!

oh, the total procedures I had was the belt lipectomy, breast lift (no augmentation and lipo in the bra line area on my back (ouch!)

Can I ask about cost and insurance?

Hi Kim,

I am so very pleased to hear from you. I have been really worried because I thought that you would post something as soon as you were able to. So I thought you must be in a lot of pain/discomfort etc. It sounds as if it is a real success and you are obviously really pleased with it all already. Getting comfortable must be a real issue though anbd you have done really well to get back to work so quickly.

My surgery is booked for the end of January and I saw the consultant again this week. He is really lovely and he said mine will take about 4.5 hours. I don't need my back area doing, which means turning you over mid surgery I think, so that is good. I have a large umbilical hernia so another consultant will be there to do that, which is an added issue. Mine is an apronectomy which includes the public area which also has major slippage. There is still quite a lot of fat as well as skin to remove there because my weight has plateaued and won't budge any further. I was warned that it would because of my hormonal and mobility issues and because I had lost quite a lot before that, so I am ok with my current weight. It will go down again with the surgery, but more to the point it will be much easier to manage and might stop the pressure on my back being even greater. He said that something always develops as a result, infections, small adhesions, clots, gathering of fluid in strange places etc but they know what to look out for and how to deal with these things so that is good. I am not having the bit done under my boobs which is also there because it would affect the healing further down. Also no boobs, legs, arms etc but if the bit under my boobs looks completely strange I might have to have that done at a later stage. I have been told that I need to go off off work for 6 weeks though to give it all a chance to heal.

How long were you in hospital for. It is great that you could drive after such a short time. I have been told 4 weeks for driving and swimming. I was wondering about sleeping lying down and you have been in your recliner at night for a long time. It sounds like you are thrilled though with it all. So really enjoy it, you so deserve it. I hope your husband enjoys his affair with you too! Do post some pictures of the new you as soon as you want to. We would love to see how you are looking now, looking absolutely gorgeous I am sure.

Do keep in touch Kim and I will be asking more I know.

Take care, and you go girl!

Claire x
